very few pre-owned vehicles are optioned the way I (or my wife) would like them
None were to my liking.
In the end you either have to accept the price of buying new what you want or saving money on a compromise choice.

For me when I ruled out all the non-monochrome paintwork choices, any with glass roof or privacy glass there were none left.

And that was before I got to options I did want ?

What made it less painful when I bought mine was secondhand wasn’t cheaper than new, now it is.

Yes I did, and you did (offer me help) and I appreciate it! Just having a bit of fun hence the ?

Love that Caulk grey car of yours, wow, one the best colours for sure, and something you just about have to spec new. Too hot a colour to find on a preowned Taycan! That or Ice Grey, two of my favs.

The Burmester's not a deal breaker, but man, does it sound nice! Definitely not narrowing down the choice with that option or there would be nothing left.

See the thing is you are not personalizing the car, you are trying to pick from 3 pre-configed cars and that already comes with a trade-off on what is important and what is not. If you were simply ticking the boxes building a car, I would not make this point, tick leather covered sun-visors whatever you like, of course. The point I was trying to make is PSD and Innodrive are among the top options that most people regret getting after the fact (my observation not scientific), the other two are probably range planner and PMCC+... 2+1 or BMeister they are different and there are many people who can't do without those.... anyways you seemed to be looking for opinions that's why i chimed in..

I know, I seem to be in that boat as well. Other than the '21 4S that has everything we like, minus the power of the Turbo or Turbo S. Sadly as I get older the power is less important. I can't believe I just said that. ?

Okay, thanks for the info, and you're getting decent range!

Choose the 4s and later down the track you can change your brakes.

also my range sits around 420-450. But my car is Rwd taycan with performance plus battery. Our current temperatures are below 30 degrees but it is definitely doable. When I purchased it three months ago the range was 320. Over the next 1200km it jumped to 400km+

I know, as far as a Porsche goes, this is a sensible choice, and will be the one that will lose the least about of money when there's a new model released.

Easy choice — go with #1 if the price is right. The color of the calipers while aesthetically pleasing does nothing for the performance of a truly great automobile. The much higher price of the Turbo S is not justified as the 4S is essentially 90% of the Turbo S for much, much less money.

Okay I'll check, and now that I know it's really LKA I like, the option that helps stay in lane and accelerates and brakes as well I believe? I'm looking for the closed thing to autopilot for the Taycan.

Here are the options on the car missing InnoDrive:

Porsche Taycan 5 cars, very different configs option 1

Porsche Taycan 5 cars, very different configs option 2

Porsche Taycan 5 cars, very different configs option 3

@Amelio if I’m not mistaken LKA was included - either standard option or as part of the Premium package (which most cars would have). If you have access to the car, it’s easy to check. It might have been disabled - I did so on mine within a few hours (lol, talk about different views to options).

I would agree, though, that as a second hand buyer you can’t always get what you want. So this is where a crisp classification of “needs” and “wants” is essential. (And the song leaves that part out..)

Thanks, actually I did not spec my car, the market was hot back in time, someone else specced it, but decided to not take delivery last minute, and it fell in to my hands. I did not see myself speccing the chalk and mission Es & PSCBs given their cost, but now those are the three things I like the most with my car :) . For me PB+ and 2+1 seats were must haves and the car checked those boxes. It is interesting how your view changes about the options once you drive the car. (I was upset the car did not have the PMCC+ and asking dealer if I could order one !, sounds funny now:) - But generally you are being smart looking at used now, there are some deals too good to pass. Good luck

I didn't know what the Mission E wheels where until now, those are also the ones I like. This Cross Turismo has an unusual type of wheel, but I'm not that fussy on this type of thing...too much metal:

But the Cherry Metallic is delicious looking. :involve:

Here are the options on the car missing InnoDrive:
In terms of assistance systems, there are:
- Lane Keep Assist (LKA) - this is a standard (in the US it's federally mandated) feature, which does a very mild correction of the steering if you drift. Uses cameras, and it's a bit annoying.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) - what it says on the tin
- Active Lane Keep (ALK) - this is basically LKA++ - aware of traffic (extends ACC), roads without markings and so on.

As @Avantgarde said, you may find that options change their relevance once you have (and use) the car. I know it's been that case for me - often I obsess about 'specs' in the shopping phase, and they just fade into being inconsequential during daily driving. I'm not trying to convince you that you don't need this or that, just that there is a (natural) tendency to focus on spec when you compare different cars.

I only get the chance to use full throttle for the odd second or two infrequently round here so more power would be rarely of benefit.

The steering feel and handling with all the gadgets is better on a 4S than a turbo without the chassis software gadgets, so massively more important to me than the extra power increment.

That is a stunningly looking car. (No, I'm not biased, why?) The wheels are the 21" Exclusive Design, with the option (now gone) of being painted in body color. This alone was ~$6k (USD)(and possibly more).

Edit: looks like one can still get wheels in body color, but now from Exclusive Manufaktur rather than from the standard paint shop.

don't you have the same car/colour?! :like:

It's a real beauty, I know. It seems like a lot of money for a 2021 pre-owned...C$162k

I added another turbo S to the mix. Decent price, not sure of options yet. Volcano gray. Pls see option 5) in my original post if you’re interested!

That's a good find, too. I notice it's a 'launch vehicle' - so fully loaded, but probably to a dealer spec rather than a customer order. Can't speculate on whether the price is right, not familiar with the Canadian market. You may want to know, if that's important to you, that 2020's do not support Plug and Charge - you'll need to initiate charging sessions from your app.

You'll forgive me for saying this, but looks like you're looking for some yellow Taycan brakes with a car attached. ? At least try and decide first whether you need/want a wagon or not? That may help..

oh interesting…how do you know it’s a launch vehicle? Yes the dealer spec’d cars are usually equipped to my liking.

That’s a bit of a pain having to trigger charging from the app. You’re right, information I’d like to know, thanks! Have you come across a comparison chart that displays the various features of the Taycans for different years?

brake envy? Yes, living with an under-braked Tesla for 8 years will do that to a person!
