Are we talking about a new Taycan and/or RWD one?

New tires come off of their “build cage” fairly easily to a special mold release substance on their outside. For that reason alone, all tire manufacturers (and many OEMs) recommend you break in your tires for the first 100 or 200 miles. Clearly with a turbo’s massive torque as posted above, chances are even greater breaking lose wheels early one due to the mold release slippery-ness — or again with an RWD drive system.

How do you turn traction control off?
Running in Sport loosens it a little, Sport+ it is more loose. You can hold the traction control button for 3 seconds and it gets properly turned off. I would not recommend it in this weather though, unless you enjoy swapping ends on public roads!

Running in sport with winter tyres I have on at the moment already leads to some fun times, but it is fun and the car trims itself once it gives you a little leeway for buffoonery.

To the OP's post: the car is an incredibly powerful car that will light up tyres if you mash the throttle. Mine scrabbles a for a split second in perfect conditions with launch control, in wet/cold IMO it's just not sensible to do it.

Why?
Mixing tyre types is usually advised against.
You are right, as long as you don't mix them on the same axle, its still allowed (but possibly not ideal).
Previous owner had a non repairable puncture in one of the rears between the moment he sold us the car and the moment he dropped it off ... so I ended up with brand new rear tires, but he obviously went with a cheap(er) option or whatever the fitter had in stock at that moment. The ones in front still had good tread left.

When Im now due for a replacement, Im going for all 4 of the same type.

Or be safer, having better traction when accelerating and/or doing emergency avoidance maneuvers by getting matching fronts now…

I’ve not had the wheel spin experience despite having to turn directly from my drive on to a 60mph road (UK A road) which is often wet (again it’s the UK). Very stable under necessarily enthusiastic acceleration (4S, Michelin Pilot - standard from new) while performing a 90 degree turn onto the main road.

I sense all the warnings above about not turning it off in winter have fallen on very deaf ears there Bob. ?
Well at least you know i've never turned it off (or, maybe on!). But now i know it lives the other side of my right hand, i shall still be resisting the urge to do donuts in Sainsbury's carpark. Well maybe some little ones the next time the tyres are due a change....

You can hold the traction control button for 3 seconds and it gets properly turned off.
Note there are 3 levels of traction control, the default/normal one, the partially disabled (allows some drift but still tries to keep you from complete rotation) and completely(mostly) off, which lets your level of skill determine what happens.

While not on the skill level of Dave or a few others here, I too have been to several track schools over the last two decades and then spent time blasting around curvy road course circuits, but I never take off all traction control on the street, and rarely even do a halfway removal of it on public roads

I remember on another forum a person with 30 years of SCCA most-summer-weekends who, after turning bhis TC completely off, had the courage to show a picture of his smashed, C7 Corvette on a flatbed after he (his own words), came to a full stop at a T intersection stop, juiced it too much while taking off and making that 90 degree turn — but ended up in the near ditch.
