I've just tried to sort out drive away insurance through Porsche.

They are demanding a tracker, whereas Aviva, my current insurers on the C63, do not.

I have a very minor issue with my C63 and am unable to sell it right now, so can not guarantee it will no longer be my responsibility, by the time collection day comes about.

So either delay collection (if possible) or faff around trying to get a short term policy on the C63 and then transfer my main policy onto the Taycan.

Or I pay for the Vodafone subscription.
Go Admiral and don't over value the Taycan. They don't ask for a Tracker or to list the options. If you have GAP insurance then reduce the value by that amount.

Admiral are an absolute rip off for me I'm afraid. Over double the cost of Aviva.

They came in at over £2k.

I'll be using ALA for GAP, possibly only RTI, as replacement has gone up ALOT. Around £300 more for vehicle replacement.

Hmm they did that trick with several of us last year so we went elsewhere only to return for around £950 fully comp this time around.

Yeah I've read that. Aviva coming in at just under 1k, so cheaper than my C63. My current policy expires in Apr, so just planned to swap vehicles on the same policy.

Any idea how much Vodafone should cost and if I can cancel? Not sure if it would reduce my premium at all.

The annual subscription is around £260 - £300 or so.

You would need to have the tracker fobs (2) activated too.

You can cancel but I don't think you'd get a refund.

I have it and is a pain. No reduction for having it this time around but it should be worth something.

Thank you. I'm of the mindset, if it gets nicked, I don't want it back, so always try to put them off from trying in the first place.

It has an immobiliser as standard don't forget which should make the PVTS offering a little redundant.

The new Taycan 2024 is advertised as PVTS+ as standard. The car should come with 2 driver cards and then activated by subscription to Vodafone Automotive services for the tracking service.

I didn’t receive any driver cards with the car on collection and have been charged £522 for parts to fitted as well as the subscription. If it comes as standard (it’s already available in the app) what is allegedly being fitted or is this another dealer ripoff method. I’ve heard £2000 being charged by some.
My car had that standard, the fobs were in the glovebox, and still are, I never bothered with it.

Standard since 2020 but you just pay a subscription to use

The salesman is saying he doesn't believe a tracker is built in.

Ive mentioned the feedback on this forum saying it should be.

The dealer group website states PTVS is included as standard on 2024 Taycans.

As mentioned before, it is standard and has been since 2020.

Regardless, you must purchase a subscription before you can use it.

The car is hardware ready only.

Did your car come with 2 tracker fobs?

Ive not picked it up yet. The dealer has quoted over £800 plus subscription to fit one, but advised against the porsche one. He's going to check up today.

Porsche insurance are demanding a tracker, even for the 5 day drive away.

Aviva who i will use long term, don't need one.

My current NCB are used on the C63, can't sell that due to a gearbox leak which is being resolved at Merc.

So my issue is, insuring the porsche short term, whilst I have the C63 aswell.

Damn gearbox leak ?

If PVTS is standard, why were a couple of members on this thread, sold trackers by their dealers? This confuses me.

Update

Its sorted, the dealer are helping me out with it.

Apparently they don't come with trackers pre installed now.

Cost cutting.

PTVS+ - Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (not PVTS (Vehicle Tracking) which I think is what you meant).

PVTS is also documented in the MY25 (latest) owners manual and logically therefore exists.

https://manual.porsche.com/#/wpi/Y1..._GB/topic/id/fc84c8b910b961628d24c0b339cb14a2

Some folk did not want to pay for a PVTS subscription and so went on the hunt for a different tracker (pointless but that’s what happened).

Sorry I meant PVTS.

Dealer are adamant it doesn't exist, has been cut for all new Porsches including 911.2.

They are installing for gratis.

Ive paid the £220 ish for a year's subscription, just to cover the 5 day drive away policy. We shall see if it makes any difference to my insurance.
