First public charge attempts...good and bad!

So, didnt really need to but decide to graze a few kw’s, and had my first public charge.

B&m ( podpoint I think) and very successful. Plugged in and off I went.

Not so successful, 50kw charger and needed to park In town so had to pay £1.30 an hour for parking so thought I’d give it a go.

Swarco charger~ Couldn’t get app off grey shading, so no charge in this one. App says out of order but people are charging as a car was parked getting a charge. As I’m new to this was it operator error ?

Was someone on the same charger at the same time, you can only charge one car at a time on dc. Did you try the ac socket?

Yes, a Renault was charging. So, even though 2 cables only 1 car can charge? Didn’t try the 22kw one as looked like you needed to swipe a card to pay. Should have in hindsight.

Ok, yep, if a car is using the chademo then you cannot use the ccs at the same time.

I made the same error when I first got mine, no one tells you this stuff..... have fun

Downloaded the swarco app for the one I couldn’t get going. B&m used the pod point pod app as have pp at home.

I used a 50kw instavolt unit a few days ago in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. Very easy to use, also, very quick.. My only issue, no option for a receipt.. You have to email them and wait.. I did the email before I drove off and still no receipt for the payment.

One thing I wish I could get from public chargers is a receipt. I think it’s an oversight that these chargers don’t offer one or even an easy method to get one.

If you use the Porsche Connect app and chargers in the Porsche network, then you can log into MyPorsche and get the costs. Once a month you will also get a detailed invoice when your credit card is charged. To have a receipt printer on a charging station is just another thing that can break down! And too many chargers are out of service as it is now.

As far as I’m aware no Porsche dealers in the UK are offering charging services. Of course, there is the Ionity ones, but they are few and far between.. I think my nearest one is 70 miles away.

Sorry I did not mean Porsche dealers. With your car you will have access to a number of different chargers, Ionity is one of them. But there are also a number of other networks that are included. Counting all of them I think Porsche is claiming something like 100, 000 charging points. Look in your car in the navigation and search for charging station. That will bring up a list.
