Attended a local Grand Seiko Owners event last weekend. Pretty nice venue in Hollywood, lots of new watches on display and some even for sale. And special guests like the designer of the Spring Drive movement who flew in from Japan to give a live Q&A presentation for attendees.

Also got to check out their traveling Masterpiece collection with some truly insane pieces, but my favorite attainable watch was probably their new purple dial 37mm UFA spring drive model, the SLGB005.

The same GS9 event/show came through Houston last week. It was well attended, and a few friends commented on the same watches. Very nice!

New (old) watch addition(s):

Recently inherited and reconditioned by dad's mid 90s vintage 36mm Rolex DJ ref 16220

And a month later I found a listing for a preowned gem that some movie nerds may know, the Seiko 5 SNXJ90, a late 90s/early 2000s vintage meant to be a blatant homage to said DJ 36mm above.

I got the two tone version because it is the movie trivia-specific watch, being the exact model worn by Christian Bale in the movie American Psycho (because his character in the book wore a two tone DJ but the producers of the movie could not get Rolex's blessing to use one in the movie, given the subject matter, so the movie prop masters used the lookalike Seiko in a pinch).

I just love this brand.
Bold, modern and attractive designs.
The C63 Sealander GMT Extreme.

Only thing I don't like is the strap.
I put it on black for the time being.
I ordered two different canvas straps, Army green and Dutch orange.

Big CW fan. Those new models are hot.

My last minute holiday pickup. The Omega Seamaster 300 No Time To Die. Love the titanium case and LOVE the mesh bracelet. The brown dial is subtle. It's a special watch that doesn't scream out loud. Very much a "go anywhere, do anything" watch. Happy holidays, y'all!

Talking about Omega.....



There are eight variations

I visited one of my local Omega boutiques and tried on the new DSOM models. My favorites are the Apollo 8 and new Grey Side model that have the moon-textured, semi-skeletonized dials. The new Planet Ocean models are... new. Not my personal favorite, and obviously I made my decision. Omega remains a solid, entry level luxury brand with some stand out models.

I think they all look good so I'm stuck now, lol!
But then again, nobody watches this thread anyway.

If the OEM strap isn't great, #3 is my favorite alternative. 6, 8, and 9 are runners up.
