May of 2023 was the first time US Porsche websites listed Taycan as 11 kW OBC - until then it was always listed as 9.6 kW…
see screen shots w/date-time stamps...
the original US website (screen shots included in my original thread) had teh taycan's maximum charge rate specified as 9.6 kW…the US website has at various times listed int he OBC as both 9.6 and 11 kW - there has been no consistency
however what has been clear from the start is the Porsche...
tldr; _ANY_ time the car shows you a charge rate > 9.6 kW it's charging at a rate faster than 40 amps - which means it's "using" the 11 kW capacity of the OBC…a charge rate of 9.6 kW "raw" would result in the Taycan showing a charge rate of less than 9.6 kW because of normal/expected charging...
could be thermal related - have you tried rebooting/resetting the Tesla charger?
also depending on ambient temperature the Taycan could be throttling the max charger rate due to temperatures it's sensing at the charging port…
i ack that’s one way to read it - my posting is simply “more churn” which simply more confusion until a vector shows up
either way it can go many directions some good some not so good!
more churn that does not bode well for the near future as Porsche grapples with their place in the new world…

yes you need to use the app to activate charging with tesla - also make sure you are using tesla chargers that support non tesla’s - not all superchargers location s support non tesla’s
if the tesla site is no shown on you pcm navigation it’s not a site that allows non tesla’s
simply terrible…the interior is interesting and a nice directional change from "the trend" - the $600k car over all however - is simply the ugliest car I've seen in a while…there is soooo much wrong with this EV I don't know where to start, but I'm definitely not starting with an order for one...
it's fine…chargers are not chargers - they are on/off switches - no power flows unless the car allows it to happen - once the target charge % is reached the car tells the EVSE (the charger) to switch off the power flows - which it does - so just because you're plugged in does not mean you're...
hmmm abandon a major market, raise the prices to be non-competitive, and then surprise there is lower/weak demand?
they've done it to themselves…and they continue to dig the hole they started for them selves…
Porsche life cycles are as follows typically
4 years for the .1 version
4 years for the .2 version
new generation after the .2
so far Taycan has followed that model
2020-2024 first generation - some minor updates in 2023
2025-2028? .2 Taycan - some minor updates in 2027
2029 will be the...
Porsche leans heavily on thei heritage - this heritage has brought them hard won lessons that they leverage into everyday products…
on the surface an EV is a car, so decades of experience with cars would lead some to conclude that heritage would benefit them for a car that happens to be an EV…...
