I could be mistaken, but I don’t think Optimate makes one that can charge to the nominal voltage of the LFP in the Taycan. Last I checked Optimate’s LFP charges to around 12.8V nominal while the LFP in the Taycan and programmed to the gateway looks for a ~13.5V nominal.
I like something like...
OP started the thread inquiring whether or not there were cheaper alternatives to the lithium battery, the answer is yes.
Whether you are team lithium or team AGM is a preference.
I live over an hour away from the nearest Porsche dealer. If the lithium goes out on mine I’ll likely switch to...
If someone is buying an H3/LN0 group size AGM battery at $500-600 USD, I have a bridge over the Atlantic that I’d like to sell you.
Someone could buy 4 to 6 of them for the cost of 1 lithium.
Don’t use that shit. Please excuse my language. Do some google searching across other EVs who have replaced their 12v batteries with the Ohmmu and they’ve failed, and in some cases spectacularly so.
Yes, form factor wise it’ll fit but no from a QA perspective.
Yes, we hear what you’re saying and I tend to agree if they had managed to wedge a 100Ah H3 battery in there but the use case in this example doesn’t hold true.
Like someone mentioned, this may be an area where Porsche didn’t opt for the better engineering or supplier because H3/LN0 AGM...
Pretty much anything that can be done is done with PIWIS as it’s the tool Porsche uses.
I think your question is less about what can be done and more about can you find someone with the skillset to do it? Certain aspects of PIWIS are not point, click, done.
I don’t believe this is a problem that’s specific to Porsche. There’s no question that lithium technology is superior, but I haven’t come across a manufacturer who has switched to lithium for its low voltage system address premature failure, which brings into question whether it’s fit for...
I’m not sure where this belongs, so hopefully the moderators can move it to the appropriate section if needed.
For coding in PIWIS, you need a VCI. Many people running cloned versions of PIWIS rely on a cloned VAS6154, but in my experience, the VAS6154 can be hit or miss.
I own three PIWIS...
