  1. How good is your Taycan at winter?

You might get that impression but it is not strictly accurate in my experience of long drives. Even in the coldest temperatures, my battery would not lose the temperature gained at the first HPC recharge. Very little preconditioning was required for subsequent HPC stops. (I only recharge to...
  2. Seat Squeaking Fix - DIY

Ok, so the pivots are exposed, merely awkward to reach. I try the endoscope. Thanks.
  3. EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

A thought just occurs. The TSB for 3885 mentions very specific pathologies (three, from bad memory)which are outside those discussed in this thread. If you can explain to your OPC that you experience none of the pathologies in that TSB, they may try a PCM swap right away.
  4. EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

It is obvious that the world's best software cannot overcome faulty hardware, and there is no hardware out there that could not develop a fault. It is also clear from very diverging experiences - most recently the positive experience of @Jasper4S - that there isn't such a thing as "the issue"...
  5. EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

Sadly, I expect you are correct. The OPC will update software first and only then consider a hardware replacement. On the face of it, an entirely reasonable policy. Although, if you are on 3882, we probably have zero expectations that an upgrade to 3885 will accomplish anything. That said...
  6. EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

I think this is important information for @Dabz. Whilst the implementation of the nav appears to stress the PCM in our charger-rich modern environment, no software can overcome a hardware fault inside the PCM itself. And computers inside cars are exposed to environmental stresses far greater...
  7. EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

No - did not think to try this trick on the run out thru Benelux when my nav crashed every 10 mins. Then again, my nav did not crash once on the same run back. (Both 450km runs with charge planner on.) That is, my nav is not as unstable as some people here experience. The example of @Dabz...
  8. Seat Squeaking Fix - DIY

It is not. "Noises" are expressly excluded. @lcarron Thanks for sharing. But now that you are done with this ordeal and actually know what it is all about, seriously, is there no way to grease/reach those pivots without taking the car apart? If it is only a matter of one or two drops of oil...
  9. EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues [Solved with PCM v3892]

A noddy observation / suggestion / question to the worst sufferers of nav failures here. I assume that everyone drives around with their map pointing in the direction of travel? (I think it is the default.) In that mode, I noticed the other day, the map moves a lot more - also in and out -...
  10. Panoramic Roof. Good vs Bad

Pros: It makes the rear of the cabin a very nice place to be. Keeps heat out well in summer. Easy to keep an eye on stuff you carry on top. Cons: My *feeling* is that the car is less torsionally stiff than a tin roof would be. I get these creaking noises when mounting curbs etc. It always...
  11. "The car industry is racing to replace Chinese code" - article

It's a theory. Let's see actual customer experience with BYD, Xiaomi et al. Would be the first bug-free software.
  12. Taycan ski trip - UK to the Alps

Darned. I should have thought of this on my trip recently. On many nominally higher-rated Q8 and ChargePoint chargers in Belenux, I would typically only get up to 150kW. Now, I just googled ChargePoint and the answer was that they typically had 800V capabilities. But is there a way of...
  13. Service reset question – Porsche Taycan

Dunno about the brake fluid but the cabin filter change date you can just input in Smart Service.
  14. California air quality measurably improved due to EVs

Same in London. Makes a huge difference in metropolitan areas. But particularly also the immensely reduced noise pollution.
