I realize the Chinese are like the Borg and they just assimilate and copy, but surely they have a line.Let’s not kid ourselves, the tariffs were not the reason for the 92% drop, but let’s pick at the easiest thing to complain about.
With regards to the electric vehicle market, I know that Chinese manufacturers have copied the Taycan almost 1:1, forcing Porsche to leave the market entirely. Whats stopping the manufacturers from making copies of 911s and other vehicles?
Haven't seen it yet.......but surely they have a line.
Copied and exceeded the taycan. Better performance, better battery, better software, better materials, better interior space. With regards to the electric vehicle market, I know that Chinese manufacturers have copied the Taycan almost 1:1,
No. The Chinese’s ability to replicate doesn’t = quality. Chinese car enthusiasts want authenticity when it comes to sports cars, surely not some faux 911. And you can program EVs to go fast, you can’t program them to handle well; that takes about 70 years of racing heritage.Copied and exceeded the taycan. Nothing is stoping them from copying the 911Beside that they have 0 incentive to develop gas guzzlers when they are better at EVs.
If anything, they may come out with the first 2 door sport ev in europe, if porsche keeps dragging their feet. Rumours are that the first car Xiaomi plans to manufacture in europe is a 2 door sports ev.
But the issue is that porsche "chooses" to not compete with the chinese, their words. Well... clearly they aren't - not just on price, but on features alsoThey keep purshing to be ferrari, meanwhile their bread earner is the Macan on a audi platform.
Yea, meanwhile chinese EVs made by phone companies are doing laps around porscheNo. The Chinese’s ability to replicate doesn’t = quality. Because it's fake info? There are public investor reports. It's not some state secret deep conspiracy... these are public companies with quarterly reports, just like porscheThe Chinese car industry is not profitable and thus not sustainable in the long term without changes in pricing, development pace, etc.. It's basically 1999 in the dotcom era. Why is that not ever considered?
It’s a facsimile.Yea, meanwhile chinese EVs made by phone companies are doing laps around porsche
Get real, come to the real world. Some of use have drove some of those "mystical" chinese EVs.
Chinese car enthusiasts want quality, and porsche offers lower quality than most chinese brands at this point.
Car sales amongst a homogeneous culture in a silo’d Asian market is preaching to the choir. If Chinese cars were selling like hot cakes outside of China that would be a different story.Because it's fake info? There are public investor reports. Zeeker is profitable since 2024.
Xiaomi is profitable since Q3 2025
Geely is profitable
Despite BYD having a full on price war in China and foreign markets, they have been and are profitable since years.
So who are you talking about?
Some of you guys have the same mentality as porsche: "surely the universe aligns in the favor of XYZ chinese car brand, and they can produce cars out of thin air, and then sell them for less than the cost of air... and the cars actually suck, but they still sell tens of thousands of car a month somehow... " - surely it's not because VW group can't make a competitive product...
BMW IX3 nueue class sells like hot candy. Must be black magic, because we all know that it's a challenging EV market, porsche said so... DUH!
To be fair they are also starting to sell well in Europe and UK.Car sales amongst a homogeneous culture in a silo’d Asian market is preaching to the choir. If Chinese cars were selling like hot cakes outside of China that would be a different story.
