“Privacy mode activated”

Intermittently I get the message “Privacy Mode Activated” in the Porsche App but neither my wife or I have even touched the vehicle for days.
Why all of a sudden does it go into privacy mode and the only way to get it turned off is to do it from the PCM inside the car?

It is a known issue. Porsche cloud gets out of sync with the car, it reports the car is in privacy mode. This happens to me whenever traveling through spotty cellular coverage, takes a few hours to completely clear. My Taycan has NEVER once been put in privacy more since I picked it up over 3 years ago, but it reported privacy mode on multiple occasions.

It seems it never occurred to Porsche to test what happens to the cloud connection when car travels through areas with spotty cellular coverage. I bet their testing in the lab has a solid internet connection.

It happens all the time, even when the car has been parked for two days in the city with 100% reception with all cellular operators. Just ignore although it’s a bit annoying.

Whitex, You're absolutely correct. I run a small tech company and my developers are based in Prague. THEIR wifi and mobile access Is fantastic! So we now have part of our testing protocol to degrade Wi-Fi and mobile access.

Coincidentally, one of them came out in April because I had to drive to San Francisco. We drove from Denver to Capital Reef, Utah to Vegas and then to San Francisco. He was doing work off the cars. Wi-Fi hotspot powered by mobile, in the middle of nowhere. Even the hotel Wi-Fi in Capital sucked. Now he knows. Lol

Thanks, I’ve always immediately gone to the car to remove the privacy mode in the PCM but this time I just left it alone and the next morning the privacy mode was off again.
So apparently it’s just a bug in their system and nothing I did.

I’ve had this several times when my mobile went out of range while using the app: when it reconnected the car had gone into privacy mode. Except that, as others have said ,it isn‘t actually in privacy mode and connection returns when you unlock the car.

It hasn’t happened to me for a while but I don’t know whether this is due to the app being updated or my car being upgraded to j1.2…

Spoke with Porsche UK support today and they have a known problem with some vehicles to do with Login and connect. Fix is being worked on

This caris a software nightmare.
