On off button on Taycan dangerous?

I guess you're not alone in this, because I remember my SA saying very clearly "if you want to turn the car off with the power button, you have to press and hold it for two seconds". This may be dependent on what sort of seats you have, but there should be an option in the PCM under Vehicle >...

    New Macan Models

I guess I didn't express myself very well, because what I'm trying to say is completely independent of your opinion about what is or isn't relevant. I'm saying that I don't like the SUV form factor. I don't want a Macan. A Macan does not provide an acceptable alternative to a Taycan for me. I...

Underbody Protection Panel damaged. Batteries and coolant lines need inspection. $72.5K replacement & labor cost. Dealership is Tom Wood in Indiana

While you wait for responses from people who actually know things about cars, here is some totally uninformed speculation. Based on the photos of eBay listings for that part number and discussions about the APB2 recall, I'm thinking that is essentially two cans of specialized polyurethane sealant.

    New Macan Models

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I really do not like the SUV ride height, period. I feel like I am disconnected from the road, perilously close to tipping over on every turn. Yes, I realize this is not necessarily a rational feeling, but that doesn't make it go away.

    My 2025 Taycan arrived.

I have recently been seeing a TV spot from Michelin that I'm pretty sure is a Taycan, where they rotoscope a thick glowing white circle over the tires. Your photo reminds me of it.

Trigger warning next time, please. /whatever is considered appropriate here for attempted humor markers, which I typically eschew on philosophical grounds

    Am I crazy?

Check out a map of the San Francisco area if you're not familiar with it. I live about halfway between San Francisco and San Jose. Virtually all of the commercial areas one would typically go to are much closer to highway 101 than they are to I-280. This does not typically factor into our route...

    Pricing on 2025 orders

This is sort of silly on my part, seeing as how the post above me (and yours, for all I know) was written by somebody who actually studied this sort of thing, but I think your belief is more scientific than you give it credit for. To me, science is essentially inductive reasoning, and the...

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

The way I looked at it is that there were essentially two things that were within my sphere of influence. 1. I get to choose the dealer I buy from, so I'm going to put a fair amount of effort into picking a good one. One to the north of me has a reputation for surreptitiously installing...

Underbody Protection Panel damaged. Batteries and coolant lines need inspection. $72.5K replacement & labor cost. Dealership is Tom Wood in Indiana

I guess you've probably gotten a lifetime's worth of unsolicited advice by this point, but if you're in the mood for any more, I would make phone calls to the service departments of the three closest dealers in your area not named Tom Wood Porsche of Indianapolis. I would say "I'm having some...

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

As I said a couple of pages back, the service department up here at Redwood City said they expected to have the parts to do ARB0 around the end of July. Parts starting to ship next week would be roughly consistent with that estimate, and it would certainly seem reasonable that they would...

    Porsche EV long term reliability?

Here in US of A, insurance largely works spectacularly until you need to make a claim, at which point you get to chat with adjusters for a bit while they decide whether to drop you or simply triple your premiums.

Not so sure about that, if your avatar photo is accurate. You might want to ask @DerekS about glass roof repairs.

    Porsche EV long term reliability?

It's certainly possible that my hearing just isn't very good, but I think it might also be true that there have been some incremental changes in this regard over the years. I have spent a fair amount of effort trying to "catch" my Taycan shifting in any sense - audible or tactile - with...

    2024 Model 3 Performance

At least for the most recent time period where there is official data (2024 Q1), the number of new Lucids and new Taycans sold around here is virtually identical. I thought about it, in part because their corporate HQ is nearby, but part of shifting to an EV for me was a statement that I...

Retrofit new Taycan tail lights onto pre-refresh?

I don't see anything about modification in the "definition" section. I just think it is worth distinguishing between repair and modification here.

Retrofit new Taycan tail lights onto pre-refresh?

I thought "right to repair" referred to obligating manufacturers to provide the same repair information to third-party shops than they do to their own authorized service facilities. This would seem like a completely different concept to me. It would be theoretically possible for me to turn my...

My New Oak Green Metallic 2024 Taycan

The way I read ISO 3779, if you drop the last 7 characters off the end of the VIN, the one remaining at the end indicates the model year. It should be an R for MY2024 and an S for 2025.

    Porsche EV long term reliability?

On the one hand, they probably have more data than I do. On the other hand, it would seem that they would have a fairly large incentive to tell you that.
