The fact that a lot of people (if this forum is any indicator) just flat out accept problems like these and just defaults to “it’s a drivers car” is not helping pressuring Porsche on these issues.
Hopefully the environmental impact from this can be mitigated, though production and material pollution can not.
Simply a loss/loss for everyone involved.
@whitex just give up. This will lead nowhere, you are engaging with people who seriously believes that a Taycan is basically a 40 year old 911 with just the ICE replaced by magic and a battery and that software is only running their apple music integration - nothing more.
I don't like to call out specific people, so I won't, but the way some of you are behaving in the thread really kills this forum for me. I have not seen a single "Tesla fanboy" in this thread, but Porsche fanboys? Oh boy, you guys really turned out for this one, didn't you?
This forum has been...
For this particular car it’s absolutely software (or firmware if you like). And just to be clear, I don’t mean the PCM.
Of course, I could be wrong, and Porsche built this car as a mechanical and analog car…
Because it’s already powered by software? Or is the argument here that software is simply finished at some point?
In all my years engineering a bunch of high volume systems this was never the case. There is always places to improve, or places with minor bugs.
The car is only a “drivers car”...
Okay, context here is probably important.
I was not taking buttons or icons. I was referring to marketing materiel where performance and efficiency of the car would improve over time with OTA.
If they don’t mean that, it should not be marketed as such. I don’t have to read much into anything. It’s Porsches claim. I expect them to release OTA updates that improve the car, whether these are minor or major is not really relevant.
I don’t mind being relatively alone in expecting them to...
In their initial marketing materiel the car was promised to deliver performance (or efficiency) updates OTA to “keep it fresh”. I don’t care about coloured icons, but I do care that I was giving an impression that my car would be faster and better as they improved the software over time, sent to...
Sorry for anyone who had their cars onboard this ship. As if you had it waited long enough. Luckily the crew appears to have been safely evacuated.
I guess the only positive here is that at least you are financially able and will eventually get one.
I see them weekly here in Norway. Even another parent at my daughters kindergarten has one - a black 4. Luckily I’ve yet to see but one other mamba green CT!
While I don’t really care about icons, it makes me rather upset that I bet it’s the same with the other improvements they promises over time as OTA to increase efficiency and so on. So they fail to deliver on these as well? For me at least, knowing my car would improve as a drivers car over the...
I love this thread! If you need anything, make sure to let us Norwegians know and we can probably help you one way or the other.
Near Bergen I am WFH as a SE so if you need anything here, at any hours during the day, let me know !
Still waiting for OTA to keep improving the performance of my 2022x, as advertised by Porsche. So for now, I’d explore options while Porsche gets their shit sorted. If not, last Porsche for me, I don’t accept false advertisement.
