If you only want to switch between the standard normal/sports drive modes, then it is “plug and play”, but it would not be the full functionality of the Sports Chrono package.
It is definitely not plug-and-play. A genius with a Porsche laptop might be able to enable the feature, but details on the re-coding process have not been verified.
Porsche can’t even provide meaningful PCM updates beyond the first couple of years after launch. No way they are going to enable Full Matrix LED headlights.
The users rnlst_log or 718socal over on the rennlist forum are who I would turn to for help. They have much deeper knowledge and also offer remote coding services.
Great progress! It seems like it should be possible, but I'm not sure how. Maybe by enabling the appropriate new options and then doing an autocode of all modules? I've seen this mentioned for other Porsche vehicle, but I've never done it myself.
Based on the way this is described, there is one Driveability Adaption setting that applies to all drive modes, and not a unique Driveability Adaption for each drive mode.
I agree that high recuperation would be undesirable. If I want recuperation, I’ll modulate the brake pedal.
Removal of VMAX…I’ll never go that fast and don’t want the car to go that fast, so I see no reason to change it, but would never know if it was.
Throttle response is the big question...
I agree with @Avantgarde on this. Just because motors can access full torque at zero RPMs doesn’t mean they produce full horsepower at all RPMs. Torque is a measurement of how much force is being produced; horsepower measures the rate at which that force is converted into work. For both engines...
I’m not sure what’s allowed here and what is not, so I won’t link to other forums. Start by searching google for “Received my new PIWIS III” and you should find a forum post that is almost 200 pages long. You can read through all of that to get all the details. It’s much, much more complicated...
You need a “special” version of Porsche PIWIS software that has developer mode enabled. Other Porsche forums have all the details on PIWIS, and the compatible OBD adapter hardware.
There is both a base Taycan (RWD) and a Taycan 4. These are all the available powertrain levels of the first gen Taycan:
Taycan (rear-wheel drive)
321hp (402hp launch control) with the standard 79.2-kWh battery
375hp (469hp launch control) with 93.4kWh performance battery option
Taycan 4...
I submitted my request via e-mail on March 2 and received the reimbursement check last week. It was delivered "signature required" via FedEx with an generic sender name. I didn't know it was from Porsche until I opened the envelope.
