    LED Matrix Headlights

To be clear though, there's the standard headlights (which don't seem to be called PDLS in the online config tool), then PDLS+, then Matrix with PDLS+. What's weird is that they have this comment in the tool when seeing the details for the Matrix headlights, but I can 100% see individual LEDs...

    Do I need ventilated seats?

I'll add that with the race-tex interior, I've found that the the ventilation wasn't as needed as in a leather interior. That's including long road trips with multiple hours in the car where I'd normally get a sweaty back on a leather seat.

    LED Matrix Headlights

Some of the features, namely the dynamic high beam to avoid glaring oncoming traffic, are not activated in the US, but cornering lights have been legal for quite some time. In short, US regulations are complicated and created at a time where many couldn't even imagine a car that has so much...

    LED Matrix Headlights

I think the Matrix lights don't really act as "cornering lights" so much, but I've found an easy way to tell if you've got them. The passenger side beam should be slightly higher than on the driver side, with the higher beam ending at right about the lane marking on the driver side on a...

    Ubiquiti EV Charger

Dang Ubiquiti is really broadening their scope these days. Feels like only a short time ago that they stuck very close to the networking side of things. That said, for presumably $1000+ (they usually discount the early access devices), I'd hope that this has something other than centralized...

Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

Why is everyone saying NCAS? It's North American Charging Standard (NACS).

Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

If Tesla wants their connector to be the standard, they need to do more than just allow other manufacturers that have already unanimously selected a different connector to use these plans though. Releasing a CCS adapter that can be used on Superchargers is the bare minimum I see here, but from...

Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

This doesn't seem to be in good faith to me. If Tesla wanted to, they can and should have done this from the very start in the US, but they waiting until NEVI funding laws had been agreed on so that they could do the minimum possible to cash in on it. Once they have that money, who knows what...

Major Taycan accomplishment thanks to this forum 🛒

I have race-tex seats, a child seat, and go on road trips with my toddler. There have been accidents. That's about all I have to say about that. Costco doesn't bother me, maybe some of the busier parking garages, but it'll get dinged one way or another eventually.

    Schadenfreude

Musk didn't found Tesla though, and was also removed as CEO of X.com before they became Paypal. He has been a part of influential companies, but I would not consider him a genius.

Noddy's new PTS Acid Green Cross Turismo Taycan in production!

There's something about the factory lighting or the camera, because they just don't do it any justice compared to real life. At the dealer: Sunset: Direct sunlight Good thing there aren't more than one per country, getting two in the same spot might result in people going blind. Can't...

    Software update 2023

Interesting, I have an appointment on Thursday with my dealer to swap winter tires onto the car, and they mentioned that there was a software update that they could apply that would take about a day to perform, but I'd probably need to return on a different day so they could give me a loaner...

    Road Rage - Near Miss

The important piece in my mind that it sounds like hasn't really been talked about much is whether this is a 3/4/5 lane road. Assuming that this is 4+ lanes (pretty sure it is if there's a specific HOV lane), there's no good reason for using the lanes on the left side of the road if you're not...

    Overly cautious with my Taycan

Replacing the PPF every year? Not sure I've ever seen someone do that before. In terms of the topic itself, I have yet to have a negative interaction with someone, and if anyone is going to stick out, it's an acid green Porsche. Just this week I had the guy ahead of me in the drive thru lane...

Build Critique: Taycan GTS Sport Turismo

I'm a simple man. I hear PTS GTS ST, and I smile. Can't wait to see it, hopefully you get some nice production photos to share!

What’s the consensus on the best Taycan colour?

It sounds like everyone is really just agreeing that Acid Green is the best color, and wants more pictures. I also can't read too great after staring at it too much in direct sunlight, so what do I know? The winter tires just arrived at the dealer this week, so now I just need to wait for a...

What’s the consensus on the best Taycan colour?

You sure I can't pick my PTS Acid Green? If I had to choose a standard color, probably Frozen Blue Metallic. If I could choose other PTS, maybe Mint Green or Ipanema Blue Metallic.

    Taycan 4S vs GTS

I was in the same position when I was waiting for an allocation. Effectively just came down to whichever model the dealer could get me an allocation for first.

Recent California heat wave and grid crisis - a personal perspective on EVs giving back their power to grid emergencies

Yeah, I'm 100% for V2H being standard on all EVs, and don't know why so few cars have it at this point. Maybe waiting for all these 3 year free DCFC contracts are no longer the norm so that people can't just power their home by stopping at their local EA every few days?

Recent California heat wave and grid crisis - a personal perspective on EVs giving back their power to grid emergencies

Vehicle to Grid (V2G) is a really interesting concept for sure, but I do wonder if it's more economical for grid operators to focus on having large industrial battery installations rather than relying on consumers for it. It adds a good deal of complexity and risk that might still be...
