Warm is OK. The threshold of pain for most people is ~125 F (~50 C) but that is cool for electrical and electronic equipment. Too hot to touch is a concern. Charging a car is continuous use of a circuit and, in the USA, should not be more than 80% of the circuit amp rating:
Use 50 Amp circuit...
The table shows the rating of a single wire in free air (able to dissipate heat), however, it does not show the temperature so it is a guideline but not a reference. Multiple wires in cables trap heat and reduce their single-wire rating.. 50 amps in two 10 gauge wires produces a lot of heat...
10 Gauge wire (10 AWG) in the USA is rated for a 30 amp circuit, 24 amps continuous. You double (or halve if smaller) the current every 3 gauges. A 60 amp circuit would require 7 gauge wire. A 50 amp circuit (40 amps continuous, e.g., NEMA 14-50 socket or plug) would require 8 gauge wire.
Be careful.
USA circuits are rated for 80% at continuous usage (more than 30 minutes)
A NEMA 14-30 socket (and likely circuit) is rated for 24 amps continuous and a NEMA 14-50 socket 40 amps.
Personal experience with a 20 amp circuit years ago - circuit breaker never tripped, but insulation on...
This noise may be caused by the front and rea motors being slightly our of sync (wheel and tire size or inflation differences).. It might be similar to the noise between twin engine airplane propellers - you can carefully adjust one engine's speed to cancel the noise of both propellers or let...
Volcano Grey is nearly black. Most designers would welcome the contrast of a lighter interior and your butt will appreciate it on hot sunny days. My choice would be grey - your choice is important to you and maybe your significant other. Enjoy your car!
As you press on the tabs, slightly rotate the connector towards one of the tabs (usually easier towards the tab you cannot easily see). This will cause the tab you rotate towards an easy release. Pulling straight out while trying to push two tabs to clear is more difficult (and sometimes seems...
Our 2016 Cayman GT4 with ceramic brakes is the best handling car I have driven - more nimble than a GT3 or Taycan and 150 lbs. lighter than the 4.0 liter GT4 (still love how the others handle).
We have had similar problems with multiple applications using iPhones 10 & 11 Pro Max - mostly financial apps. The following has worked for us:
Delete the app
Restart phone
Turn off cellular or WIFI in settings, not control panel
(only one on)
Install app
Login
Suspect the problem may be...
Porsche PTV (computer controlled brakes) and PTV+ (limited-slip differential) are in play with hard acceleration out of any corner and (if perfect) neutralize the car's tendency to understeer. Most driver's can feel it if they look for it and will unconsciously feel it as easier to handle (less...
As an electronic engineer, my decision to add the 150-kW charger option was influenced by: likely to be more reliable and less loss (lower on resistance with lower heat loss). Covering my butt also affected my decision.
You might be better off just using a longer cable - it is generally good to have a "drip loop" in wet weather so water does not run directly into the connection. Water running down the cable drips off the loop. Thank you for your superb postings.
Cannot believe there are two Taycan Turbo S models in Almelo! Spent 4 1/2 years living 50 % of the time in the Theater Hotel while working in both Seattle and Almelo for Fluke corporation. Our Taycan Turbo S is on order and about to enter the factory. Wished it could have been delivered in...
