Selling My Taycan - Accounts Query

I am leaving for a 0% tax jurisdiction end of March. It's going to be a bit surreal having spent two decades paying tax on everything I earn. But equally, very liberating. The Taycan? We will see. I really want the car, so it looks like most of its time will be spent in a lock up as I'll be...

Selling My Taycan - Accounts Query

When I first heard of the IRS, I thought it was a terrorist group ? I later found out it technically is a terrorist group. At least in the UK we make them sound all nice and pompous.

Selling My Taycan - Accounts Query

You should look at it as essentially deferring corp tax because you will eventually sell it. This FY let's say you turnover £500k, car cost £125k and there were no other expenses. Corp tax = 19% on profit of £375k = £71,250 Next FY you sell the car for £115k and you turnover £500k again...

Selling My Taycan - Accounts Query

My understanding is: 1. The business owns the car as an asset. You cannot sell the car to yourself for below a fair market price, and if HMRC were to find out, there would be potential fines for corp tax, BIK and NI avoidance. You would then have to pay the money back to your business. If it...

A lot seem to have misunderstood my comment, which was specific to business owners, not in general. Part of the reason why the Taycan is so popular is because as a company car, the tax benefits are the reason why it is chosen over: Equivalent ICE cars: since the personal and company taxes...

I will see how things go if I do leave the UK. I am tempted to keep the Taycan (once it's delivered) even if it means only driving it for less than 90 days each year. As you mention, it is an incredible and unique car.

Hey that's half the reason for my purchase ?... Which is now looking increasingly unlikely courtesy of the 12+ month wait.

I've spent much time there and do prefer Portugal to Spain. I thought Golden Visa via property investment is 500 euros regardless. To develop an old property to a value of 350k, you must commit 150k in renovations. You cannot take out a loan and the investment must be from a sole person. Or...

My approach is a bit different. Through the fortune of having grandparents who were born in a foreign land, I am currently going through a citizenship process where - even more luckily - it takes 6 months flat. Going to the relevant consulate in London next week. I should have a second passport...

Totally. It is just not worth the hassle. To your second point, I was thinking exactly that, but then I don't know where I will settle long term. Not the UAE though - it's a great home for my business and my bank balance, but not for me! Possibly Madrid, or somewhere in the Far East That's...

Hmmm, if it's looking that expensive even out of principle I would hesitate. That money can be used for so many better things and let's face it, we are only buying a Taycan becuae of the tax benefits. If those benefits evaporate, then what's the point? May as well take a bigger salary and get...

Ha, of course not! The business would still be closing, but the car ownership would transfer to me personally. Then a few weeks later I would find myself somewhere sunny and exciting. The car would find itself somewhere dreary with a corrugated roof. The head is telling me that is utterly...

I think so. Depending on where I settle, I could always order the car again, it's just if I do leave the UK permanently, I'll be bouncing around various countries for a max of 3 months at a time - possibly for a year or two before settling somewhere I am happy with calling "home". In that...

That's what I've been thinking and since I'm very likely leaving the UK permanently by March, I'm probably going to be cancelling otherwise the car is sat in storage for 9-10 months of the year until I make my periodic return. Purchasing isn't the problem, it's depreciation and trying to sell...

    Available Taycans @ Substantial Discounts!

At least for the US market, you do seem useful. However, the "common folks" strategy is a bit peculiar if you really are in the industry. Just say, no one will care. I'm not sure whether someone who can afford to own three cars with a combined value running into hundreds of thousands of...

    4S vs GTS

When did you drop your deposit? I dropped mine in early Feb, and am 11th on list, so expecting a call possibly next month or Feb, delivery around May.

    4S vs GTS

There's people in this forum who were told they were 12th on the list, having put a deposit down in Feb, and have this month got their GTS allocation - and for an ST that has the longest wait times. There is no logic to it. We have to wonder if it's Camelot and not Porsche that issue...

Glut of used Taycan - Uk

I expect not for much longer. With the current economic climate, I expect 18 months will quickly turn into 6. Semiconductor shortage has turned into a semiconductor oversupply. With all of that, I'm expecting second values are going back to normal depreciation curves by summer next year. Any...

    Charging Etiquette

Digital comms/internet is my profession and the word "fact" is not a word I recognise any more - and it goes far deeper than political views, whether left or right. Digital technology has enabled the most sophisticated propaganda machine in history - though Trump and Brexit were mere blips, and...

    What would you do??⁸

I can see your frustration but there is little you can do. Either sell your current car to a different dealer for a better price, or privately if you can be bothered and if it gets a higher sale price. Otherwise if even financing that £16k isn't an option (at 10% I don't think it's worth it)...
