There is language about an exception for folks who bought already or signed a contract to buy prior to the bill going into effect (of course that raises a lot of gray areas….does a refundable deposit for a future build qualify as an exception?)
I’m sort of in the same boat. I wanted a 4S sedan or CT4 BUT a brand new RWD with most of the options I wanted fell into my lap. It’s not my top choice for exterior (it’s jet black metallic) but I‘m leaning towards getting it bc who knows how long it will take to get a 4S. It could be 12-18...
haha. I’m going deep into the archives!
appreciate your response. I’m driving an m3 and will prob miss the sheer power and nastiness but the appeal of the taycan is undeniable. Glad to know you haven’t looked back although I’m sure you miss the m2 at times.
Catching up on this older thread and it’s so helpful
I want to order a 4S but alas there are few allocations if any and the waiting time is expected to be 12-18 months
so I located a RWD which is specced out nice (PB+, perf pack, Sport chrono, PASM/Air, all leather), no markup, and brand new...
This community has been extremely helpful - I appreciate everyone’s thoughts.
it’s amazing that 0-60 in 5s/400+ HP is “slow” but I get it. I’m sure I’ll be more than happy with the RWD and if it’s not “enough” then the 4s isn’t going anywhere.
I also find it interesting that most of the...
I appreciate the responses so far. There’s no doubt that the 4S is faster…and more expensive. It also seems most RWD are very pleased with what they have and in some cases prefer it over the 4S…while very few dislike the RWD and regret their decision.
I would like to one day get a ‘23 4S sedan and understand that it could be quite a while before I get one…
In the meantime, a base/RWD sedan fell into my lap and it has many of the options I was looking for (PB+,PASM,Sport chrono, all leather, prem pack). No ADM and good offer on my trade. I’ll...
this is well stated. If I could get my hands on a 22 brand new 4s then I would take it but these are unicorns. A nicely specced base with PB+ leather seats sport chrono while hard to find isn’t impossible to locate
bottom line: you get into one of the coolest cars out there!
Congrats and sounds like a great decision.
I agree 100% on the looks being much better.
I might have found a base Taycan that has most of the options I’ve been looking for so may get that to hold me over. The good news is I can get the tax credit.
I currently drive an m3 f80 and have an i4m50 on order. It is supposed to finish production in early sept (We’ll see). I’m thinking about canceling the order or driving the m50 while I wait for an allocation to order a taycan 4s or ct4. Obviously the taycan will be $40-50k more expensive and...
After doing some more research and talking to a bunch of dealers I can share the following: dealers are waiting for allocations and creating wait lists to get allocations. They have no idea when they’ll get allocations and are telling me you can expect a car to be delivered in 12-18 months …...
I had to step away from the forums while I took care of some personal matters but am now back…since then the market has changed quite a bit!
how difficult is it to get an allocation from a dealer?
I had one dealer tell me that it’s impossible to get an allocation unless I want to pay a markup...
Appreciate everyone’s thoughts. I once owned a Z3 and to this day is my favorite car I’ve owned. It handled like a dream, sat very low, convertible, and was super fun to drive. Except…it was slow off the line and also lacked the acceleration at higher speeds (sounds like the RWD doesn’t have...
I don’t see Porsche giving compensation for delays because it would set a precedent. In the future, they’d have to give every customer compensation for a delay and who determines when a delay is compensable? Whereas now, they can point to things out of their control (force majeure) causing the...
