Indeed. Interesting video. I saw in the comments that someone mentioned yet another case. This is a major problem for all EVs built this way. They simply have to figure out how to repair those batteries/casings cost effectively or it might be game over.
If I recall correctly, the "no brakes" in your wifes' case meant no brakes with the brake pedal. Emergency braking with the P button should still have worked, which your wife may not have known is a feature. That brake relies on a different system.
It was a very educational case I have to say...
Picture of the day. Spot the whippet.
I'm not a big fan of the wheels. With better looking wheels the car would look insanely good. I appreciate the range these wheels bring so I'll live with it. It's not like the car is ugly as is ;)
I think that today I found a way to properly disable the...
This is my understanding also. If true, Porsche will be almost forced to figure out how to repair the casing, as this sort of situation is unacceptable and reports of this will certainly hurt demand and increase insurance cost further.
Yes it does, new EU regulation apparently. It's not a big deal since you can program one of the two custom buttons (either the one on the dash or the one on the steering wheel) to disable it. And with other button/UI improvements I actually find it a bit difficult to find a good feature for the...
Bye bye MY20 Gentian Blue 4S
Welcome MY25 Carmine Red Turbo
Pictures are not great as it was thunderstormy weather today. This was the best I could do for now but I will post more pictures in a nice outside setting later on.
The dealership is 150km away from home so I got a nice drive with the...
It had caused a small dent in the battery as well.
I have to say this is the single most concerning issue in the Taycan at the moment. However if this was a common occurrence we would have already seen a lot more of this. So even though it's concerning, I also see this as extremely unlucky...
This is just complete BS. I have a Taycan since 2020 with 37k kms and the longest it has been in the shop at any one time is 2 days. All other times it has been a day or less. Pretty sure it has been in the shop at most a week *total* and half of that has been during my biannual tire changes...
I sit pretty high on mine. Our family car is an SUV and I appreciate the outside visibility you get from a higher position.
However I fully agree with the comments here, if you want to drive in a spirited way or on a track, definitely sit low!
I think it is fairly standard on all newer cars with electronic parking brake that you can use that button as an emergency brake if the brake pedal fails. I just recently told this to my spouse in our Audi as we discussed this remote possibility. This is actually rather useful safety information...
Thanks for the very informative OP. As for cruise control, I'm glad they made this change. My Audi works in the way you mentioned and it has always been a little annoying that the Taycan works totally differently. Looking forward to my new Taycan.
Based on what I've seen and read, there have so far been very few problems with the transmission. It's a robust system that is at its core simple and not nearly as complicated as some other types of transmission systems.
That being said, any and all systems in a car will eventually have an...
I've had a 2020 4S for almost four years now and road noise is probably the single most annoying issue about the car in my opinion. With both the 19" summer tires and 20" winter tires it's quite loud.
I really don't buy these "it's an EV so now you notice the road noise better" arguments. Sure...
The height button in the dash has nothing to do with the drive modes. It's the button you push when you want max height, which can be useful if you're going over tall speed bumps etc. Also if you push that, it will ask if you want to save that location for the future, and it will put max height...
I fully agree. With buying I didn't mean buying with cash. I've always used financing in my car purchases. Usually I pay around 30% cash and have 70% financed.
