to be fair this was pretty much the first issue we had in 3 yrs /66k miles ………. but it’s a very serious one
the way the dealership and porsche gb dealt with it was not good in my opinion
the car was repaired by porsche and i sold it that same week
porsche agreed the pipe had failed and hadn’t been damaged but didn’t seem worried about this, i was not charged for repair
i found out the car was involved in an accident 2 days after it was sold but have no idea what caused the...
sorry if not clear
fluid was on floor / ground ( ie the road not inside the car). it’s the front passenger side flex hose that has burst, there appears to have been. no impact etc
i know this shouldn’t cause complete failure …… but it did and that’s what needs serious investigation imo
i wish it was !
still talking to opc / porsche gb about this ……. and the DVSA
I have photos of the pipe and the complete failure is very much fact - when i have resolution i will post them here for others reference
I’m selling the car as soon as i get it back , no way my family will drive...
oh yes it can ……… and it did happen
i agree it shouldn’t however
brake circuits aren’t normally plumed front/ rear on road cars. they are usually split corner to corner but it’s definitely possible to loose all the fluid as that’s exactly what my car has done
maybe this is why my wife was able to slow from the higher speed but then once stationary had no mechanical brakes as fluid had all gone at that point ?
i drove it a short distance to a safe recover location and other than the very light regen it had no brakes, not even enough to feel safe to...
i drove it after the failure ( VERY slowly to get to a safe recovery location) - trust me it had NO brakes at all - not perceived ! no brakes whatsoever other than the regen effort - i have raced cars to gt3 level, i know when a car has brakes or not
at 70mph i dread to think the damage a...
well on a Taycan you clearly can ! - fluid emptied via this burst pipe when pedal was pressed resulting in no brakes at all other than regen which is very ineffective - if you have no fluid you have no brakes
that’s the fact and it’s ridiculously dangerous, these cars should not be allowed on...
it’s never been taken apart , i’ve owned this car from new and it’s has nothing other than routine opc service
the hose has failed under pressure, it’s either faulty or spec is too low
Porsche have a big problem here imo
flex pipe bust - so no pressure in the system and all fluid pumped out = no brakes other than the very light effect of the regen
dealer agree it’s not damaged at all, it has just burst under pressure
yes parts can fail but not on 3yr old £137k cars with full dealer service history. A part...
Opc casually suggest ordering and fitting a new pipe ………. no regard for the other 3 same age / same quality pipes on the car or the thousands of other Taycans that could have a similar failure
they honestly expect me put my wife and children in this car again without as much charging all the...
OK - so following pressure to the dealer from Porsche GB to determine cause quickly its been diagnosed as a split brake hose (nr side)
no evidence of impact or damage, just component failure
I think they need to start checking other cars ASAP ? this could be a killer
at least you can feather in a manual handbrake gradually - an electrical one is surely on or off which at speed would be rather dramatic and result in a spin quite likely
i guess it would be as it’s separate calipers i think ?
however it’s rear wheels only i think so like pulling a handbrake turn at 70mph ………….. which would be rather interesting !
police won’t be interested as there wasn’t an accident - the gov vehicle safety unit linked will be however, i will be in contact with them today
this shouldn’t happen on 3 yr old cars - the more i think about it the more i think porsche have a massive problem here and need to establish cause...
she won’t drive this car again - regardless of outcome re Porsche it’s going to have to be sold.
a terrifying experience for her that you just can’t ignore, she has no confidence in the Taycan whatsoever now
i can confirm that while trying to move the car to a safe place that without mechanical brakes working the pedal goes right to the floor and even at very low speed it ability to stop with regen alone is very low - so low it couldn’t even be safely driven onto the recovery trailer without fear of...
