I hear this regularly from the center console of my car. Had the same with loaners as well. Mostly I don't notice as I have music playing but especially on roadtrips both me and my wife gets annoyed by it. Apparently just a feature of the Taycan though.
Fully agree that these cars are not logging errors in a meaningful way. I had a suspension fault that cleared never to be seen again - And they could not see anything. Seems like the error log concept of "legacy" cars are just build that way (saw the same on my Audi's).
Must be hard to diagnose...
The hardware is present in all J1.1 cars as it can be enabled with FoD. Not sure if it has changed since J1.2 does not have FoD.
Mine also had it active since day one without being optioned with it.
I have changed battery once in each key in the three years I have had the car.
I did, see my post above. Sounded very minor and not something you will really see as a user.
Did a 2 x 330km drive over christmas and the nav hangs up just as often as before. But according to the update note the update only affects the high voltage control unit anyways so I did not expect...
Might come down to local legislation, but where I live a bad module that makes the car unable to drive can never be categorized as "wear" or aging.
Local dealers have confirmed that the battery failures are covered by PA - But to be fair I have never heard of a case as quite few cars have...
The standard brakes in the Taycan is sized to cope with that. I've had some fun drives through alpine passes in Switzerland and Austria with mine and there was absolutely no sign of brake fade. I did end up with 25% higher SoC on one of the drives though :P
Mine is 2 1/2 years old and has done 80kkm. Used as a daily driver (I have a 55km commute so 110km/day typically 4-5 times a week). We have used it 3 summers for roadtrips to southern Europe (2-3000km pr. trip). It has only been in for service where they have also taken care of recalls etc. One...
I got the update a couple of days ago. I scrolled down to read the entire text. It was something about improving the "notification concept" regarding battery issues. I just concluded that it is probably a minor update to the battery monitoring software previously rolled out.
It installed in a...
There was also an article last year that promised "PCM Upgrade" for the MY26 Taycan. It ended up just being a minor software tweak and nothing new on the hardware front. I suspect this will be the same. Since they already have a steering wheel and paddles in the range it should be simple.
My...
I can't say my story is the same but the result is. I have been a car guy my whole life. Grew up at a car dealership. But over the years I realized that 99% of the time I'm in a car I prefer it to be quiet and comfortable while still entertaining to drive. That is exactly what the Taycan is to...
Congrats on the new car Derek and great summary you provided here.
Having a 23 that have done 75kkm with no issues at all seems to be lucky. I'm still considering if I should keep it or move to the J1.2 within the next year. Tax rules around here are set to change a bit so premium EV's will be...
I got 30kkm out of the original Michelin Pilot sport tires before they were blank on the inside (I replaced them before they delaminated). The Taycan just eats tires.
The concerning thing is that Porsche never warns you about it. My car was serviced weeks before I took of the tires and...
It sounds like a charger issue. But the implementation of timers in the car is annoying as well as they don't resume if the supply is interrupted. I have two chargers that are balanced and when the balancer kicks in it quickly cuts the power if there is a spike in power draw from the house - And...
As a firmware developer I had to laugh a bit here :D
But honestly it feels like the user facing software in the Taycan is letting the platform down. There is so much cool engineering in the drivetrain and the J1.2 included a lot. But in daily use the software you interact with still sucks which...
Sounds fine yes. Mine was at 90.8 at that point and is around what you would expect from a battery after some use. It's hard to compare with other brands as they all have different ways of estimating and showing SoH.
I might just have been lucky. My 2023 have been in exactly 1 time besides the services and that was for the brake recall. The remainder have been done when I had it in for regular service.
Having done just short of 80kkm and never had any issues it seems to be better than the average for the...
Probably depends on the market. Around here a LOT of Taycans were sold to a segment that actually would prefer a SUV but because of our taxes a ICE Cayenne were out of reach compared to a Taycan. That lead to a flood of Taycans. The Macan stopped that and I think the Cayenne will reduce the...
Here in Denmark the base price is close to the Taycan and cheaper than any of the hybrids were previously. Base ICE is almost double the price due to taxes.
Pretty sure that it will sell a lot here and it seems like a better deal than the Macan.
I have never really liked the Cayenne (or SUV's...
Yup. I have used it from time to time if I need to stretch range etc. Usually I don't bother with it as I charge the car over night every day and that leaves me with plenty charge for my 110km commute.
