I have my VIN, the production number and the date the car entered the body shop. Is there any way I can figure out the exact production week of my vehicle? I'm wondering because the new PCM update is supposed to be rolled out to vehicles in production on week 7 2022.
Similar to what others have mentioned, I've had a shop do that with one of my cars after many parts had been replaced. It can serve as an extended test drive to make sure everything works as expected.
But I can understand it seeming strange and they probably should have given you a heads up.
Totally agree with you. I wasn't making excuses for them not backporting it to older PCMs but just speculating as to why there's a mid-year update. They definitely should port this update to older units (minus Android Auto because I understand that could require specific hardware). They've been...
Oh my bad. I saw an announcement about PCM 6.0 in June 2021 and thought that was when they introduced it. Forget what I said then, who the heck knows what Porsche is going to do then ?
It would be pretty messed up on Porsche's part to update PCM 6.0 but only do it for cars produced late-Feb 2022 when PCM 6.0 was released June 2021.
My speculation, as a software engineer, is that they wanted to get PCM 6.0 hardware and software out in time for 2022 models but had to cut out...
I don't have a direct answer but I would imagine they require technicians to go through training. They have a technician training facility in CA and PCA did a tour of Taycans used for training In a video a while back.
I would also imagine they have extensive troubleshooting and repair manuals...
That's crazy! I live in the San Francisco Bay Area (population of 8M) and I counted maybe 20 Taycan (new/used) nearby. The dealer I ordered from didn't even have one in stock so I had to test drive it at another dealer.
I've been debating whether to upgrade my 4S allocation to a GTS as well but find it hard to justify the price premium for the GTS.
Not to go too off topic but I thought the more expensive variants always lost more in terms of depreciation than the cheaper models. Four-wheel Trader on YT has a...
I'm new to EVs, so not familiar with this at all. Is the app saying that you've lost ~10% of range since you bought the car? Is that considered high/low/normal?
I saw that but personally wouldn't hold my breath for an update because this is a traditional automaker and not a company like Tesla that just OTAs updates willy nilly. There's also no guarantee that US-bound matrix LED headlights contain all of the components to make the matrix work. For...
While trying to look at the bright side, this turned out to be a positive thing for my build. Since I live in the US where matrix LED headlights cannot work as intended, there's not a functional between the LED PDLS+ and the matrix LED PDLS+ AFAIK. So in my build, I was now able to add the...
Agree regarding the reputational impact. I'm curious what dealers will do now? Call up customers and tell them their same build is a few grand more? That's not a great position to be in from a customer service point of view, but with the current supply-chain issues and the demand, Porsche (and...
