I was chair of a condo HOA a few years ago that had an underground parking lot.
We wanted/needed L2 chargers but could not run separate metered supply, and the owners without EVs would not approve a ‘free” charge as you would imagine.
The solution we installed was cheap and super effective...
I am out of the loop now so this may be out if date …. But both ChargePoint and wallbox had L2 EvSE units where you can set pins to require a confirmation on their app to start the charge process. You should research those brands.
A slight correction on this… I had this debate with my SA.
The TSB for the brake recall does not require a brake “flush”… they can do the work by clamping or blocking the hoses and then doing a brake bleed, keeping the majority of the original fluid. A brake flush is a complete fluid change as...
Wow …. Just wow…….. for Depreciation it goes straight to pole position, in the fugly category…. Move over Fiat Multiple and the Deplorean ….. a new Sherriff is in town ….
Other than the dealer telling you its status …. Maybe a CARFAX vin report would tell you?
I looked at a punched Taycan three years ago and walked bc it meant missing out on 6 months of warranty and EV tax incentives ….
I get exactly the same effect, I’ve always been intrigued by what causes that at every time I wash the car or it rains. I see the same color refraction on the roof.
A workaround ….. if you tend to be the only driver …. Is to set two positions in the seat memory, one for driving and one for access, egress…… not ideal I agree…….
Great thread …… not adding much here but some of my thoughts……
Ultimately - we are still limited to the problem to the simple physics of electricity - squeezing energy into a cell at rapid rates - to meet the energy out demand minus losses (not just charger losses but transmission and step up...
Sorry to the OP …. We went into a Tarrifying frenzy … ?
So I have been helping out in a large cross border business transaction (not for cars) that is impacted by this whole import saga …… and in this case I am being advised by Lawyers that in almost every case …. if Taxes or Tariffs are...
Yes the “misunderstanding” of VAT being a tariff is at best a fact that is “alternative”…..
And I think that this is understood ….. but in the U.S. most states also apply a sales tax to a car purchase … then there are layers of county or city sales taxes …..some also add significant...
No I do not think this is a remote OTA trigger ... not for a 2020 taycan .... or not without a software update as there is no remote monitoring capability.
In my case Porsche told me that I do not have any remote monitoring - and also got this same email with a list of recalls as noted above...
The email posted above is same as the one I received - badly written as it states " FREE Taycan Battery Module Replacement Now Available at Your Porsche Center " in first paragraph - then suggests urgency in contacting the Dealer to ".... to have this software update performed as soon as...
Hmmmm … well some dealers know …… I got the same email and text yesterday and within an hour my SoCal dealer reached out to me to book in the car, they set up the service date and the details of the recalls are all outlined in the service appointment.
They probably should have asked you out of simple courtesy and customer care…… if not contractually. But doing this is common …. See this thread https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/dealership-manager-taking-my-car-home.24632/post-375886
This is very common …. At least here in the U.S. and and in two separate porsche dealers in SoCal that is what they have done with my car.
Battery load banks do not simulate driving the car, they simply discharge. I spent a few years as part of a team building an EV ground up (not personal...
