I hope it goes smoothly, but I would expect that a sizable part of the update will need to be done tomorrow. Have they told you when you can come take delivery? They're hoping tomorrow late for me.
A couple items. The WNJ8 or whatever the software is to upgrade NON-recall cars was available yesterday. By available, that means available to download to terminals, which I understand takes overnight. They can't leave the terminal downloading the software while they need it for normal...
It was apparently available starting at 12-noon PST, so perhaps it's not the eight hour behemoth that was feared. They plan on doing mine tomorrow morning.
So, there are three different updates, and each car is only eligible for one-
WNK1 is for 2022 cars already with colored icons.
WNJ8 is for 2022 cars without colored icons but not covered by the ANA6 safety recall.
ANA6 is for 2022 cars (and others) that Porsche has identified as having safety...
"The grid" doesn't mean anything inside of your meter.
Most poletop transformers (in the Western US) transform 12.5kV to 110/220 and are rated anywhere from 10kva (lets call that 10kw and avoid a lot of confusion) and 170kva (170kw).
EVs are not randomly distributed. They turn up in nicer...
I don't want to nerd out too much as it sounds like we're both familiar with devops, but a wide variety of hardware makes modern devops and the resulting frequent sprints much (much) harder, and I doubt either Porsche or their contracted PCM SW supplier is on the bleeding edge. PCMs in this...
Due to widespread supply chain constraints, I have little doubt that Porsche used a variety of chipsets in PCMs in 2020-2022. There are a lot of chipsets that do nearly the same thing but require slightly different compilers to be optimal. In a rush, those differences might cause any number of...
In order to deliver my car, my dealer has committed that I'll be the first update they do (the car is still at the dealer... they arent allowed to deliver it without ANA6). I'll let folks know when I hear anything.
The last major PCM update took 7 hours and failed (at the end) typically once of twice before it went well. There's a Turbo S sedan at the local dealership that had the PCM bricked by the process and has been waiting for months for new parts.
It makes sense (to me) for such major releases that...
When you made the appointment, what did you specify you want done? ANA6? I’m still confused if Porsche is releasing whatever this is in order to address the recall.
