The posts from @whitex and @marvinp give a modicum of comfort with my choice of a Taycan. I think it will all be good, notwithstanding current evidence against it. ;)
This complexity, though, is not a necessary feature of an EV. It is a design choice by Porsche. I doubt they would have chosen this route without weighing this decision carefully. They must have chosen it betting the overall experience would be a net positive.
It would be interesting to know...
Yes, I would expect this, but have no knowledge of it.
I do expect cars to become more self-diagnostic, but it will take a while for that to be very good. Hofstadter's Law (It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law) still holds. I wonder if...
A linac is likely much simpler than a Taycan as it operates in a well-defined static environment, rather than an ill-defined dynamic one, but it is a good comparison because the stakes are similar for failure: death or maiming of the patient/driver.
So your opinion is that this is more a...
How does Porsche ensure their dealerships are adequately trained to support the Taycan? I am sure that the there is much that is similar, such as the suspension, braking system, lighting systems and the like, but with a completely different type of engine and extensive software integration this...
What version will these features be in? The current version is 2.0.0 from 2022/01/11. If this is a big change as the press release indicates I would imagine it would be in a 3.x release. Since 2.x is only two days old I can't imagine these changes will be coming soon. Of course, 2.x could have...
It would be interesting to know what two days means. Does it take two full days for one person? Can it be faster if more people work on it? Can some of the work be parallelized? How much does it vary case to case? Is Porsche really releasing updates so often?
There is this way of thinking...
I agree it would be interesting to know what prep work is needed. When is the SIM registered on the mobile network? When is the ID of the car registered with Electrify America? I have not owned an EV before, so maybe this last is a dumb question.
The PDI is an inspection, so I would imagine...
Today my CT in Benicia transitioned to 'En Route to Porsche Dealer'.
The trip to the dealer is scheduled to take seven days for 660 miles, which is about 4 mph. I am pleased they are being so careful.
If I may ask, why take the On-Board 150 kW/400V DC Charger? Are there any 400V chargers in the US?
My understanding from here is that this is not a good choice.
I do not know, but they are not listed in the Taycan configurator so my assumption was no. I will check if my SA knows when I collect my car later this month.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.
One thing to consider is charging. I have a HCS-80, 64 Amp, Level 2 EVSE at home. I have a 4 CT on its way to me now, but since I did not take the 19.2 kW On-Board Charger option, I will not be able to charge at the 19.2 kW the EVSE is capable of. This might not be important to you. You are...
