Extreme Winter Driving pros and cons with Taycan

I took note that you have 20" Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. I have been researching those as a Pirelli Cinturato P7 replacement, which came with my car. Your picture answers my question about the CrossClimate's on snow!:)

Reflections on 2023, and this Forum

I completely agree with your comments about this global forum. I'm not a frequent contributor, but a frequent reader. I joined two years ago today after placing an order for MY22 RWD, which I took delivery of in April 2022. The posts made by members of this community are used to build my...

    Range deficency.

That's consistent with my experience, too. I long distance travel in the summer months. Otherwise, 90% or more of my daily driving is well under 25 miles per day. So, not a big deal to me.

    Magic Dock Success!

@DerekS - I'm asking for a Magic Dock for Christmas. What brand are you using and can you show with a picture? Thank you.

Battery Range: Is 100% full charge of 188 miles the best I can expect?

I have the 79.2 kWh battery. This is the range I usually have 6 to 9 months. In this case, snapshot was taken in September. Don't remember outside temps, maybe 70 F / 20 C. It's more than sufficient for my road trips.

    my Taycan vs my 911

Totally relate this statement, @Jhenson29! I'm envious of our colleagues in Europe and near mountains as I am surrounded by straight roads and corn fields. Although, periodically head to the hills along Missouri River between Omaha and Kansas City.

    Taycan 20,000 miles

Similar experience to what others have shared, @PaulaJP. Special ordered MY2022 RWD 17 months ago. Approaching 24,000 miles. Absolutely no issues. I'm like @Jaymo, plan to buy when lease is up in 12 months and order another one. And, I completely relate to @Hirschaj "sarcasm". But to @PaulaJP's...

    Taycan 4S - 1 year later: owner's feedback / review

I really appreciate your post, @JustWatching. We are on the same time line and thought I'd share briefly my anniversary with the 22 Taycan RWD. I, too, placed the order in December 2021. Delayed a few weeks due to Felicity Ace and Russia's invasion of the peace-loving people of Ukraine. Picked...

    Taycan price increased.

I noticed that Bose is no longer an option, too.

    Taycan price increased.

Thank you for the heads-up. My spec increased from a base of US$86,400 to US$90,900; or US$110,820 to US$115,210 with options.

Questions after 1 year of ownership

Your post appealed to me for a couple of reasons. First, I, too, am approaching the 1-year mark on my 2022 RWD. I've been concerned about putting 17,500 miles on it. So, it was great to read about your 30K miles in one year. I always find excuses to "run errands" and usually return empty-handed...

    Low temp charging

It is definitely the infrastructure and not the car.

2023 Taycan $7500 Tax Credit with Lease vs No tax Credit purchase.

I chose to lease my 22TAYCAN because of the newness of this BEV technology. The $7,500 tax credit was applied to my lease by the dealership. I had thought after reading the new EV tax credit regulations effective 2023 that the Taycan is ineligible for the tax credit because the car is made...

    Low temp charging

Very similar experience when temps in the Central U.S. hovered above 0F in December 22. Would start at 45kW and not pull above 85 kW on either a 350 or 150. SOC was 12% and battery temp was 96F. I learned through Kyle on Out of Spec (YouTube) that the ABB equipment works OK in really cold temps...

    Price cuts?

Tesla owners in the U.S. have not qualified for the EV tax credits because the manufacturer produced more than 200,000 EV's. The new U.S. law, the Inflation Reduction Act (a misleading name), lifted that to give preferential treatment to U.S. automakers, such as Tesla. However, because Tesla...
