Haha interesting comparisons. When did you join? 1989 me. Only stayed in a few years. Then went into offshore rig construction in the Yards on the Tyne. Where my H&S career started. I was Pompey FMG then Invincible. My dad ended up owning a scaffold company. I worked for him for a couple of...
What a brilliant interesting piece Frank. Awesome. Fascinating career and must have been amazing to work with so many iconic drivers and teams. I've always loved the engineering of motor racing. I was a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy when I left school at 16, my dad was a mechanic for BMW...
Currently restoring my matching numbers 1969 911t. I'm doing the mechanics with my dad who recently retired. Friends will do the welding and paint for me. I've restored quite a few VWs over the years. Bugs and buses but this is my first air-cooled Porsche. Good fun. It's a long term project that...
Get the car mate. There are lots of benefits and issues to Salary sacrifice cars just as there are to every method of procuring a car. I've had Salary sacrifice cars for years as my daily driver, and also own cars at the same time. If you think you can afford it get it. Don't listen to other...
Sounds promising mate. Hopefully it's accurate for the both of us. Have to say the experience so far has been underwhelming and frustrating. Not my first Porsche but is my first new Porsche. I'm sure I'll forget it all after a few drives.
Heard from Porsche Nottingham today that my crayon grey RWD saloon will be at the dealer on the 22/07/22. I ordered via company lease end of May 21. Better be worth that wait
I'm in almost exactly the same situation! Ordered mine RWD in late May 21 lease through ALD Automotive through SS scheme. I'm now being told August. Shocking really. I'm too far in to bin it now and the waiting list for other decent cars on SS lease is pretty crap. Will begrudgingly wait it out now.
Porsche don't make drag cars. They make sports cars that go round bends and and drive sublimely. 0-60 straight line speed times are not what a Porsche is about. The fact that the power plant of the Taycan is electric and not say a flat 6 is almost irrelevant to its main purpose of being a...
I tend to buy a project so it ends up being my spec anyways. I rarely leave things standard. Always like to tinker and fettle a bit. Although for obvious reasons this Taycan will be left as it. Lease companies hate a mod lol
Dealer allocation and method of purchase definitely seems to impact on waiting times. I've leased through company scheme which appears to be the worst scenario for protracted waiting time. The dealer allocated is Nottingham Porsche. Ordered end of last May and have had numerous date push backs...
Leasing which is a 3 year agreement. If I'd bought one it would be 3 years to keep it in warranty, like others have said. I don't trust new tech outside of Warranty.
My dealer said I should prepare that I won't get it until end of August/September. I ordered it in late May. I also think your model and configuration have an impact on delivery times too.
