Porsche giveth, Porsche taketh.
Earlier in this thread the main difference that was established between MY20 and (most) later model years is plug and charge. I now chose a MY21 after all, so I would get that.
Except that it has the 19.2kW option. Which is more than likely useless for my...
Ah, f*** it. There is a 2021 Turbo over 400 miles away that seems in perfect shape, and with pretty much all the options I want. I only have to compromise on the exact interior, but it's not a deal breaker.
Looks like I might just fly down this weekend and drive it back.
I hear you, but in this case not taking models without plug & charge into consideration may mean waiting for a suitable car forever.
It's hard for me to imagine that not using plug & charge is so hard that I would really mind, do you have any particular experience there that you'd care to share?
Good point, I haven't really thought about it. Do you just trust that the car is as expected (which I guess CPO makes easier)? How would trade-in of my Boxster work in such a situation?
Yeah, I'd do the same in your situation. It's useless in the city. My commute is 45 miles (~70 km) in one direction, and it's almost all freeway, so it's different. I didn't care about ACC in my Boxster, but when I tried it on the Macan, it was actually really nice to not have to constantly...
Tempting! I'm not sure how realistic that is, though. I have family, and this would essentially mean taking a weekend off.
It would be different if I could fly and drive it back I guess, but I want to give my Boxster as a trade-in...
But you've made me have another look at those far away...
Ah, good call with the battery health status.
Yeah, I'm pretty much set on getting Certified Pre-Owned and with warranty. When I bought my Boxster, it was 2 years old and with over 25000 miles, and yet I never had any real issue with it whatsoever, so I have made good experiences with CPO.
I very much agree, it's painful, but I have some experience there. Everyone's situation is different, so don't take it as fact, but if you enjoy listening to music in your car a lot, and you already decided that you would be willing to play the price difference for the better stereo, maybe this...
Hello,
Assuming I ever actually find a used Taycan with the options I want that is less than 400 miles away (the Burmester is making that difficult), I imagine it could be a 2020 model instead of a later one.
Is there any reason not to consider a 2020 Taycan? I know that you won't get plug and...
So, as expected, it proves to be really difficult to find a Taycan (of any trim) that actually has the Burmester. There are a few in South California, which is too far away. There is one in my price range nearby... but it does not have the ACC.
After compromising on my Boxster and ultimately...
Yeah, I can imagine!
Thanks again for telling me your experience, I'm really looking forward to it now.
Oh, I do own, use, and love them, but I would only use them while driving a car (or on a bike) while in transparency mode, if at all, and then that does not solve the issue.
Thanks, that's again encouraging.
Maybe so, but it still means that the Signal to Noise Ratio for music/podcast listening and phone calls for example is significantly lower, so those things becomes plain more possible in addition to just more pleasant.
And a low SNR means that even relatively...
Actually, now that I think about it, that can't really be it, given that PCM and the BOSE or Burmester amplifier are coupled over MOST, which is digital fiberoptics? So the DAC has to be the in the amplifier itself...
That makes total sense. However, where I live in North California, there are days with some pretty high winds, so I don't want to chance it.
Plus, it seems to be far from an unpopular option, just like the Adaptive Cruise Control on my "Must Have" list. The Burmester on the other hand...
That's a good guess, yeah. However, there seem to be at least two bits of further communication with the actual (MOST fiber optic attached) amplifier, as at least with the BOSE you can toggle "Linear" (which, if it really does what it says on the tin, should actually modify the frequency...
Yes, it's so baffling, isn't it? Thousands of dollars for no doubt competent speaker and amplifier systems... and then the filter options are just bass and treble shelf filters.
I actually know how that stuff works from an electrical engineering perspective, I know the exact math behind FIR...
You almost had me there, until I read this in the review:
I listen to a lot of very vocal heavy music, and it's noticeable for everyone (so without getting into any "audiophile voodoo") that if the mids are underemphasized, voices will appear quieter and drowned out by the rest of the music...
I don't know. I got so, so burned by the terrible BOSE in my 981S, that I don't think I want to gamble again and think "what if" for the lifetime of my car (I tend to keep them very long). I did hear that starting with the 718 the BOSE was "fixed" to not be as atrocious, but listening to music...
