Thanks mate, that’s really helpful. I’m about to buy an interim car (lightly used) because my ordered car is so far away now, I’m paying over the odds and when I questioned the lack of on board charging on the used car my dealer was pretty dismissive. I’m a little confused and somewhat irked by...
I live on the south coast so winter isn’t really an issue, but I think you’re right on desirability. My ideal car is a sensibly specced 4S ST, if I jump into an interim car now I will probably push my order back if I can, the dealer has agreed to to accommodate this on the basis I’m paying overs...
I’ve asked the question on another thread but are the on board and mobile charger options really worth ordering? In the U.K. we don’t have many, if any, super fast chargers and most of my charging will be done at home. Appreciate any input.
That’s an interesting post Whan, thanks. To clarify, are you saying that the cabling options are a waste of money? I’m based in the U.K. where we don’t have many super fast chargers and the Porsche cabling options are very expensive.
I had agreed to part with my car in August and given that a major service and tyres were due it was the sensible thing to do, I have a runabout Mini but it’s not ideal for my needs. I don’t think I’ll get the car Q1, based on most owners experiences I think Spring 23 is more realistic and that’s...
I think I know the answer but would appreciate any views. I ordered a 4S back when I was a teenager, with the expectation that I would be in the car by now. It looks like Q1 or Q2 2023 now but who knows.
My dealer has offered me a used RWD or a CT4 as an interim, low mileage and not silly...
As somebody else mentioned, there is a tendency with Porsche to shy away from base models, maybe it’s because we think if we are shelling out that much money why scrimp? I know dealers always tell you the residuals won’t be as strong and in the case of 911’s I think that’s true, but the Porsche...
I’ve had S, 4S, GTS and GT3 over the years of 911 ownership. That in no way qualifies me as any sort of expert, just making the point that sometimes less is more and Catchpole (who he) would seem to agree. My ‘best’ 911 was a 993 Carrera 2, back in the 1990’s, a brilliant drive, but probably of...
I know that and have always followed that policy with many 911’s over the years! Some time ago my then neighbour bought the base 997 while I owned the 911S, I struggled to justify my choice after driving his, less speed but more fun.
ETA that Catchpole is one of the few I take seriously when it...
For anyone contemplating the two, it’s worth watching Henry Catchpole (Carfection) on YT as he reviews the RWD. I don’t want to influence either way as I have a 4S on order (though likely to cancel now), but Catchpole makes a compelling case for the RWD.
I think there’s every chance you are right on that, but all bets are off for me right now! The cars I’ve been offered are list but pretty high spec, as I’m just dipping into Taycan not sure what to makdd Ed of it.
I think they might be stuck with the EV subsidies, at some point they got to adopt a policy and stick with it. They backed off with solar a few years ago and look at the situation now, don’t want to drag politics into this forum but U.K. energy policy is in a mess.
I wonder if the Taycan market...
