Nearly all cars stolen in Europe/The UK are sent to Africa - Africa has no charging infrastructure and prefers SUVs for the rugged terrain.
So, for these two reasons, the Taycan simply isn’t desirable to modern thieves, who are nearly all organised criminals working to feed the African market...
Yep, agree - why not just add a stop button.
But setting a recurring timer as I say does stop the charge at your chosen level (as long as direct charging is off)
CONCLUSION
So, as @azraeil says below, I used to be able to just set the 'minimum' to my target charge in the profile and the charging would stop at that.
Since the latest software update the minimum has become exactly that, a minimum - so it keeps going to 100%.
Thanks to everyone who...
Wasn't ignored but didn't make sense until someone else explained this logic about why recurring makes a difference. Sorry if you did explain this in as much details as the person quoted above and I missed it.
Thanks. Yes, @SergeyIndy 's explination of why recurring is important was really helpful. Good to hear that this cracked it for you. I haven't needed to charge since posting but will try this next time and report back.
Thanks again.
As I’ve said a few times now on this thread, Number 2 definitely doesn’t work anymore for me.
it used to, it would charge to the minimum set, send a push alert saying ‘The charging process is complete’ and not charge any further than the ‘minimum’ set. Now, possibly since the recall software...
Yep, the London shell ones are like this (see image).
The lamp posts are so close to the curb that it’s highly unlikely anyone would be getting their wheel chair stuck in the wires @W1NGE ?
Yep, this doesn’t work. It did before the latest recall software update, but now minimum charge seems to mean literally that - a minimum, not a maximum. It just keeps going to 100% with the settings you show.
see @Dee - a good example of one nobody can agree on on this thread.
It actually works really well. Very little chance of tripping over a wire unless you choose to squeeze between a lamp post and a car rather than walking on the pavement (London lamp posts are generally at the edge of the curb).
+the good thing about chargers on lamp posts is that they have a...
A well designed app would make this clearer. Or simply tell you ‘your timer conflicts with the profile, do xyz to solve this’. A well designed app wouldn’t have this many people confused and trying to figure it out through trial and error
It does about 4.5. And it did have time. It said complete then kept on going to 100%.
I think the explanation of why it’s important to set the timer to recurring made the most sense so I’ll try that next time and see what happens.
Now there’s an idea.
Considering my car spends half the week sitting on the street in central London until I need to drive 10 minutes down the road to the gym and back, I’m not sure 100% is recommended ?
