On my third EV (and second Taycan).
I had a Macan 4S EV as a loaner, and looked at one seriously before deciding on a CPO Taycan CT Sport GTS.
Macan Pro's
In my mind, the gasoline powered Macan is the most fun to drive SUV on the market. Porsche has managed to keep the driving dynamics intact...
Here is the procedure my dealer recommended for long-term storage of a Porsche EV. The Bulletin he referenced is copied below.
Summary:
Over inflate your tires (3-5psi+) and/or place them on tire saver pads.
Charge car to approximately 50%
Attach level two charging cable and leave plugged in...
I found the technical service bulletin that my dealer was referring to. I'll put up a separate post so it doesn't get lost in this thread.
Bottom line: the 12 V battery in our Taycan's is a specially designed lithium ion unit that is integrated into the charging infrastructure of the car. With...
Yes, it happened to me too.
I got it fixed when the windshield also needed replacement. Insurance covered some of the cost. It was very expensive, as I expected from Porsche. A few years back, I did a windshield replacement on a 991 911 and it was nowhere near as costly.
I briefly toyed...
That's good to hear. I have left my MY20 Turbo for almost six months without issue. This is the process I have followed, based on dealer advice. Curious if anyone has been given different expert advice?
I put the Taycan up on tire saver ramps at +5psi (six months likely wouldn't damage modern...
Gorgeous. It reminds me of British racing green!
The E type is not mine, but sure pretty to look at. My first EV back in 2018 was in fact a Jaguar. Their innovative I-Pace. Classic JLR story: beautiful to look at inside and out, solid performance, breathtaking lack of reliability.
Inductive wireless charging (and in the future, resonant wireless) is clearly where we are going with electrification. The wireless charging industry is forecast to grow from US.75B today to $23B by 2034.
I’m sure some of you have a ‘multi-device’ wireless charger on your bedside table. Mine...
1. Neck snapping acceleration at any speed. Not just for fun, but useful for repositioning in traffic. It’s much like riding a powerful motorcycle but with creature comforts and safety.
2. ‘Filling the tank’ at C$.08/kwh (US$.06). That’s our overnight rate. From 20% to 80% is 50 kWh × $0.08...
I’ll add my two cents to the « drive it until the tread wear indicates a replacement is needed » camp.
If a puncture is near or on the sidewall, it’s a different story, but a repaired puncture on the flat portion of your tire is essentially a permanent fix.

If you mean the transition from an ICE 911 to the Taycan, I still have the former. It's a 991 S cab, so a summer car. I use the Taycan as my daily driver in Toronto, and the 911 spends the winter in our place in Arizona. My work takes me to both Canada and the US.
In short, the 911 feels...
I bought a preowned Taycan. And my 911s over the years I’ve purchased preowned. I’ve never managed to get my head around the pre-depreciation price tag on a new vehicle.
I don’t talk about it often, because I am extremely grateful for those of you who love brand new cars and keep the funnel...
It's all relative! For those of us who have owned traditional ICE Porsche's over the years, the depreciation curve is unsettling. Compared to other EV's, German, Asian or domestic, Taycan depreciation is reasonable.
The same goes for reliability. JD Power ranks the Porsche EV's at the top...
I voted yes. The Taycan Turbo is my second EV, the first being a Jaguar IPace, acquired when it first arrived, a couple of years before the Taycan became available. (I have a 911 as well and have been a Porsche enthusiast for years).
I'm an earlier adopter with technology that captures my...
To build upon the previous comments:
The most obvious feature with Porsche's Sports Chrono package is the dash mounted clock (over time, across the Porsche lineup, the package has included a number of additional performance upgrades, particularly on the 911). Sports Chrono pays homage to the...
I do not have it on mine, but love it from a design standpoint. The font is contemporary. And I love the all lowercase treatment. It looks great.
And removing it is not a big deal if at sometime in the future, you wanted it gone.
Enjoy your new ride. Nice write-up (and a fine looking car!)
They are both fabulous rides. The Taycan simply represents a new chapter in automobile progress.
