My first Porsche has ruined other cars for me, and cured my range anxiety

Wow. What a pleasure to read. I could not agree with you more, Klas. My Taycan is my second Porsche. My first was a 1971 911T Targa, carbureted (Webers). That's the one that ruined me for other cars. With a family over the years, the Targa gave way to more practical models-- though...

Successful Matrix headlight activation for US Taycan

Got an answer on this. Nope. If the dealer recodes and it reverts back, then Innovative Soft will recode it for free, including the PIWIS "rental." I also got them to significantly reduce the rental price. We have a lot of mountain roads in Oregon, and I spend a bit of time on them.

Successful Matrix headlight activation for US Taycan

Haven't got an answer yet, but it looks like I can get a PIWIS 4 (MY 2025) on Autosky for about $345, which is obviously less than the price of the rental.

Successful Matrix headlight activation for US Taycan

I was thinking the same thing for the PIWIS. Good question. I'll get an answer....

Successful Matrix headlight activation for US Taycan

That's one of the things about Innovative Soft. They will recode for free if this happens.

Successful Matrix headlight activation for US Taycan

I've been texting with the innovative Soft people. It turns out the cost of this is a bit more than the $884, if you have a 2025 or newer vehicle. It's $1,620, plus an additional $410 to rent the PIWIS. So $2,030 (USD). Is it still worth it?

    Lots of Taycans in Munich

I know exactly what you mean. I remember reading about the new 1976 Turbo Carrera (in Playboy Magazine, shhhhhh) and that's when I fell in love (with the car, of course). I believe that car sold for around $25,000 new, which was a lot in 1976. I was sure then I could never afford one. Now...

Came across this beauty last time I was in Munich:

"Porsche Charges $134K For The Taycan, SAIC Charges $32K For Z7" - article

I would argue what doomed these luxury brands in China was their willingness to make cheaper copies funded by the Chinese government. If you're shopping based on price, you're probably not in Porsche's target market.

    EVs = passenger motion sickness

This has been my experience as well. The Tesla was much worse. In the Taycan, with PAR and comfort settings engaged, my wife often reads and sleeps without looking up, even when I'm cruising along and/or passing at higher speeds. Curves with the active ride are sublime.

Price of Oil and EV Demand (ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

Price of oil is likely to jump start EV demand, even in the US. Just look at this screen shot from this evening’s (May 8) news: Notice anything?

Harry’s Garage on EV and Porsche

I drive a Mini Cooper SE as my daily city driver. With a full charge in warm weather, it will get about 90 miles range. I've never once had any issue with range. I charge at work, mostly, because my office building is solar powered. But I do occasionally charge at home. Just plug the thing...

    NYC Hitman uses GTS ST!

The show is nearly unwatchable except for the Taycan scenes, which are pretty cool. In one episode they had a flashback scene to something like 5 years earlier and the Patrick Dempsey character was driving a Panamera.
