Sounds like the repair is approved and the it's next up in the shop.
I still don't have any more details than "power electronics", but they said the repairs are >$10K w/o warranty, so that one paid for itself.
I'll have the full details when I get the receipt, but probably won't be back home...
I've got the VSP warranty, not a CPO, and it went in the shop last wednesday.
The quote from the service advisor was:
Fingers crossed it comes back good as new.
Would that mean driving it in sport+ mode would be recommended since it'll start in 1st and only downshift under deacceleration (without a load)?
in regular modes it starts in 2nd and only kicks down when you ask for power right?
You're saying kicking down under power is what is failing? All...
I would think that power cycling the car and having normal behavior would be something other than a transmission. What makes you think it's the transmission?
It's happened 3 times now. In all 3 instances once I brought the car to a complete stop I could power down and back on without really waiting any length of time and the car would power back up and appear healthy.
The first was something I can chalk up to gremlins.
The 2nd time was ~13 days ago...
It's as if dampers, dampen a jolt.
In all seriousness, dampers/shocks can be used to stiffen a suspension and change it's dynamics, but there is typically a something close to optimal for a given spring rate. Over stiffening shocks doesn't let the springs work, under dampening results in...
I'm thinking about doing some track days with my Taycan. If I'm going to take my car out to the track more than once, it would seem like a smart idea to get a second set of wheels and tires so I don't destroy my daily tires.
Since I'm not doing any of this for time, I just want to enjoy the...
Just to confirm, you can buy just the ALK without innodrive? I don't think that was an option from the factory, but software is a squishy thing.
If anyone has a car that they can they can check, I'd really appreciate it as I'm currently shopping and feel like ALK is a requirement for me, so I...
I’ve heard that you can get ALK turned on in software if you have the ACC hardware.
Has anyone done this? What did it cost you?
Does getting ALK require getting Innodrive?
I’m in the US, but I have alerts for a couple of our online auction sites. With enough of a discount it’ll be a risk, but it’ll probably work out even with a couple 2k repair bills if I save over 10k at purchase.
Do you know of any good way to run the vin to get the original options?
Good tip, I hadn't considered that, but it rings true.
I am considering a base model. It looks like air suspension is optional and you can't get PDCC, but you can get rear wheel steer and the LSD. I've always hear that the steering is better on non-AWD cars so that would be a plus. Any reason...
I recently test drove a used 2020 4s and I believe it had the PDCC, PVT/LSD, rear wheel steering, and wow was I impressed with it both from a comfort and dynamics perspective.
Now I want one.
The real question is do I need all of these options to get that fizz?
I’ve had a bmw i3 and a tesla...
