I agree, for the most part and I would like to see Porsche answer, or find an answer to what happens to the brakes/pedal when the fluid is gone. One would hope that the software would just use regen braking until the car is slowed enough for using the Park emergency brake. Unless you can...
You are contradicting yourself. The Taycan does have lift off regen if you choose to use it, as you said above, albeit a small amount. I find when I'm going slow it is often enough to stop the car.
I'm not sure why the brake pedal wouldn't work as normal until the point where the...
I had the same question. I mean regen works (engine braking when you lift your foot off of the go pedal), when turned on, even if you don't touch the brakes. Hydraulic braking isn't involved when you first push the brake pedal, so far as I can tell, so why wouldn't Regen braking work? Plus the...
I have a 2022 Taycan 4S with pretty much all of the performance options, 21" tires, and the insulated glass.
While my car was in for service they gave me a 2023 RWD Taycan with 20" tires and no insulated glass. It did have the standard suspension as well.
Driving the same roads, about 140...
From posts on here and the Porsche Manual about 90% of braking is from the electric motors, regen braking. If my meter isn't lying, most of the time when I stop from speed the manual brakes don't kick in until I'm almost stopped. I'm sure this would be a bit different during an emergency stop...
Sounds like a failure of the manual brakes, not the regen braking. I've had that happen in ICE cars I've owned, only two in the almost 60 years I've been driving. One was caused by a master cylinder failure the other by a broken brake line. Once the cars slowed down I was able to stop them with...
It wouldn't surprise me if Elon was looking to divest from Tesla at some point to focus on his "more interesting" projects. Were that to be the case he'd likely squeeze as much as he can out of the company first ;) Nothing Elon does would really surprise me.
I have a 2022 highly specc'd 4S and was recently given a 2023 base model RWD as a loaner whilst my car was in for maintenance. The difference in ride and quietness was night and day with the 4S trouncing the base RWD. I'm another that hasn't really had any issues with CarPlay as well.
Bottom...
It is quite possible. The loaner they gave me was a 2023 model and the 2025 model is a bit quicker, although still slower than a 2022 4S. It looks like they have made some of what were options standard now on the base model.
A RWD with all of the options I have on my 4S might have been fine...
I'm sure it handles well without, but better with. I don't track cars, never have and probably never will. But I do know that recently I had the opportunity (read was given) a RWD Taycan that basically had all standard equipment except for 21" Wheels and the door lights. My 2022 Taycan 4S has...
On my 4S it came with the premium package. I was able to remove it by deselecting the Premium package then retaining everything except the panoramic roof. That would have been a no-go for me if I couldn't have removed the glass roof. I really really don't like them ;)
My sympathy to you Derek. However, this does make me happy I don't like roof glass and removed it from my configuration. I shudder to think what the cost would have been for the new active glass panoramic roof.
I'd don't know if you should be annoyed. But I took my Taycan in for a recall, they gave me a new Panamera loaner. I returned it two days later, when I picked up my Taycan, and there was no charge. I'm not even sure what was in the tank as I didn't fill it up and didn't bother checking. I'm...
I have the PWCC and have never used the mobile charger that came with the car. I'm just going to wait for the replacement cable, mostly so the updated mobile charger is with the car should I decide to sell it at some point.
While I don't necessarily agree with all of your points, this is the one that seems the most problematic to me. Occasional road trips aside, many, perhaps most of us, do the majority of our charging at home and the cost will vary a lot depending on the locality. In my case I live in Southern...
I'm with you. I've been using the PWCC for over a year with no issues. If you have the 19.2 Kw option on your Taycan, as I do and it seems you do as well, I feel it is a good option.
I beg to differ. I have a PWCC that I've been using over a year with zero issues. Of course I also have the 19.2 Kw option on my Taycan and it is hardwired, so no plug issues.
There were lots of discussions about if/when Tesla might open up their charging network which would require the option for max charging at a Tesla charger. I'm one of those that bought the 400v option. I mean for $460 it was insignificant compared to every other option I chose. Big upside if...
I don't have access to the WaPo article, but if it quoted the study you posted EA actually had the best functionality rate of the top three service providers tested: 73.9% for EA versus 72.7% for EVgo and 47.7% for ChargePoint.
They also mentioned that if you considered both connectors at the...
