Ferrari is having similar sales losses in China. Sales challenges are more about the Chinese macroeconomics and shifts in consumer buying power than the aspirational aspect of luxury brands. Strategically, I would rather see luxury brands (Porsche in particular) shift their position in the...
I never considered that Porsche competed with Ford or Chevy or Hyundai or now Chinese cars like Xiaomi on price. In this line of argument, shouldn't we compare the 911 against Mazda Miata or Honda Prelude? What about Subaru? Nothing against those manufacturers or cars. But it is about what the...
Congratulations, @websterize! I hope you and your family create many memorable road trip experiences. It truly is a great road-tripping car in addition to daily driving. Happy journeys!
@Truthteller - I've had MY22 since new. My wife and I spec'd it in 2021 and took delivery in 2022. The way the car made my pulse race upon seeing it then is the same as now. And that doesn't include getting in it and driving it. For me, the Taycan is a brilliant car. Not once has depreciation...
@jkolorado - Your question has led to a great discussion, no surprise. This forum is my go-to for research. But then a decision has to be made. Not sure if you have made a decision yet as I haven't read every thread. However, I live in Nebraska and head to the Rocky Mountains frequently. While I...
@PSUEric - Thank you for sharing your trip experience. I agree with @DadOfFive that it is important to share these stories. It's counter to a lot of disinformation being spread about EV's. You have inspired me to share my recent trips, which I'll do in a separate set of posts. I did two...
No advise, just personal experience. I got the MY22 RWD. 402HP is fine; plenty. Hauls ass when necessary, and in an instant. This isn't a track car and I don't care about what I can do in a straight-line from 0 to 60. More HP would go to waste on me. I like the slightly lighter feel of the...
@Glenn - 3.2 miles/kWh over the last 675 miles. I drive it aggressively (who doesn't?), usually, unless just in-town. Recorded with days 3.6 and days at 2.6. Quite similar to your experience.
@Glenn - I've owned MY22 RWD w/79kwh battery since new. Getting similar SOC as you. No battery degradation. Realize, too, that the warm weather helps. Cold winters in Central US are a different story and just have to make adjustments during those months. Happy journey's everyone!
@B61 - I still have my MY2022 RWD. Actually bought it at lease-end. No issues with the car. No issues charging. Has about 42,000 miles. Driven through the Rocky Mountains twice. Been to Indy, Nashville, and rural areas of Kentucky, Missouri, and Kansas. Love the car. Plan to keep it. Happy...
@tigerbalm - Extended warranty does not apply to the 8 year battery warranty. You raise an important issue regarding the battery post the 8 years to a future buyer. Not sure if there is a knowledge base to draw from at this point given the Taycan has been on the market for less than that time...
@Damien_ Great question! The answer, of course, will depend on one's own upbringing. For me, I had to buy my own cars since 16. The first was a VW van, then multiple VW Beetle's, some with rusted out floorboards, and then Saab's. No, I didn't walk miles in a snowstorm to school and back. Those...
@adamandsheri - FWIIW, I just bought my 2022 RWD at lease end in April. Residual value plus a two-year extended warranty made economic sense. Plus my wife and I spec'd this car and so it has non-economic value to us. It's our DD and we absolutely enjoy driving it. Just got back from the Rocky...
@skudinnit257 - Yes, I'm a PCA member and participate in local coffee and drive events when schedule allows. A very welcoming community of Porsche enthusiasts.
@SergeyIndy @Mikegrr - I really like this updated dashboard with the charging information. More data visualization to inform you about how much energy the car wants vs how much the charging station is providing. However, and keeping to the issue of buying MY22 RWD at lease-end vs going for the...
@Mikegrr - Hope my comments are helpful in your decision-making process. Lease ends on my 2022 RWD in April 2025. Residual value is $52,000. I enjoy driving this car and don't see the value in getting a 2025. So, plan to buy at end of lease.
Many happy journeys to you and the entire community!
Had the same issue. I hope the steps I used to fix this issue on my end is helpful to you.
