While the car was in for a replacement of the left-side fan today, the PC agreed to perform the WTG1 update.
Happy with the new options that @Argo mentions, the PCM also feels a bit more snappy. Crossing fingers that it will behave well for our planned road trip down down the continent this summer.
Strange, must be regional differences. In the manual available at "My Porsche" for my car, it simply points to the advice provided by the PCM. There are no tables containing suggested tyre pressure(s).
Good news, and well done.
My service center also said that a video showing that the navi performs a restart, was required. Well, not so easy when you usually drive alone in the car, along the highway. My car goes in next week to replace the fan in the left wheel-well and I will ask them again...
Thanks @Flying ace for great input. Interesting to see your own calculations for the "penalty" of running Mission E wheels.
I would expect the turbulence effect to be quite speed dependant. Would be interested to hear about your results after some more driving/longer trips.
Drop the car into low. Raise to highest, and verify that all four corners are pretty even (measure from ground to top of wheel arch). Drop to lowest again, then back to normal. Verify once more that the corners are pretty even. Make sure to be on level surface when doing this.
Check tyre...
OP drives a Taycan CT, is 89 years old a looks for an all season tyre. How is it relevant what you think of all seasons, if he has already decided?
And why do you bring the iON evo summer tyre into the discussion? Has absolutely nothing to do with the all seasons tyres people have mentioned in...
Did the sound develop gradually, or was it more instant e.g. during a couple of days? My GTS was always more noisy than my previous CT4, but I was thinking this is due to the bigger rear motor...
My bad, mis-read your post.
Very strange that there are none options for setting a winter tyre at all. I guess you have really scrolled all the way to the bottom of the tyre size list?
The rims from J1.2 will physically fit a J1.1. Note that the TPMS-sensors work on different frequency between...
The J1.1 cars were not "sertified" for anyting bigger than a 20" winter tyre. Probable due to the fact that Porshe offered snow chains and these were not compatible with the tyre profiles used for the 21" wheels. At least, this is my speculations.
Should be no problem for you to run 21" in...
Thanks for a very organized and valuable input, @RED!
In the 90's, I drove mid-and long-haul trucks as a way to finance my university studies. I still follow the industry with interest, since in some areas they are more advanced than you might consider: you can now move 60 metric tons and use...
To do almost 29 000 miles on a CT, sounds very good for these tyres. Did you strictly follow the PCM suggested air pressure, or did you inflate a bit more?
In Europe, there is really not such a thing as "all seasons". I notice you live in a tempered climate, but do you ever drive in winter...
Should be good.
But apply a bit of pressure, drag the palm of your hand over them (in the opposite direction as the tyre would roll over the ground) and note if the rubber still provides good friction. If possible, compare with other winter tyres in your garage.
Quick and dirty test but should...
Interesting. Across how many of the J1.2 models that can be delivered with PAR, is this the reality?
For the J1.1 GTS, and standard air suspension, I was told it has a thicker and stiffer anti-roll bar.
Some feedback from me, on the Hankooks: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/21-gmp-rebel-and-hankook-ion-evo-tires-initial-impressions.19911/post-410336
Thanks for taking us along. Very nice pictures!
Which tyres did you order, and what was it like going flat out on a set of winter tyres? Still composed and controlled?
Good instructions from @Scandinavian here.
I use the app to search for the HPC's along my route (mostly Ionity for me), save the locations as favorites and then they are sent to the car. My trip starts, and in the PCM I simply navigate from one favorite (i.e. Ionity HPC) to the next.
The...
