He didn’t start Tesla, but he does deserve a ton of credit for making EVs desirable to the masses. Sadly the fact that Elon has pivoted from boy genius to right wing extremist/conspiracy monger/oligarchy supporter #1 is one of the main reasons I am no longer enthralled with the mostly mind...
In normal (Chill/Sport/Plaid) modes it splits power fairly evenly, in Plaid mode it does so to maximize acceleration which results in understeer under throttle.
I usually drive track mode 80% RWD or more and traction control -5 (-10..+10 is range) or higher so, under throttle the steering feel...
Having owned a 22 Taycan 4S that I traded for Plaid S and considering purchasing a used GTS, have some addition comments here.
Agree with most that Tesla fit-and-finish isn't great, but I've never had any issues with my Model 3P (owned 3 years) or Plaid S (2 years) apart from some front...
Thanks for apologizing :) But no apology needed... Though I do love the handling and styling of the Taycan, I think the various discussions in these forums and my experience with a skeezy dealership have reminded me I should probably stay away from Porsche EVs until the dust settles on these...
FWIW, drove the 2022 GTS and it did handle as well as I recalled my 4S, but felt heavier as I had the smaller battery in the 4S, also felt quite slow even in Sport+ mode (I didn't launch so didn't get full 590hp) as I drove the Plaid S 4 hours to see it... Maybe with Red shift upgrade it would...
Thanks I have called the Porsche Dealer who took the lemon law buyback and they said the car should be fine thought the ARB5 recall means that this car *does* have bad cells that need replacing... The question is HOW MANY bad cells and more importantly HOW LONG until Porsche can replace them...
Additionally, for ANY EV purchase, new OR used (but of course especially used), inspection of the underside of the car is critical... Any deep gouges or even light dents in the bottom of an EV where battery lives could result in manufacturer denying battery warranty claiming owner damaged the...
Agreed... Absolutely I would not buy one that is out of warranty (only the oldest Taycans are just starting to be out of 4 year mfgr warranty at this point), and I need >= 2022 as I don't think I could handle the older AV hardware and not clear if Android Auto would work well on older Porsches.
As long as Porsche will stand by their warranty and as long as I'm willing to have it in service for 1-2 months in a year or so, it is entirely possible that being in the (vast majority IIUC) of Taycans being looked at for POTENTIAL battery issues is a long term good thing as battery cells will...
I think that is the bubble we are in and why I am considering gambling here... If a Porsche dealership has a Taycan with one of these HV battery recalls and no solution, I believe they have a stop sale (to consumer) but they are not prevented from wholesaling to 3rd party resellers.
I also...
Thanks for the input. I've had decent service experience with Porsche Burlington though none after delivery for an EV... You are right HV cell recall there is no current fix available which is one big reason some Taycans are being sold by Porsche dealerships to other resellers vs end buyer...
FWIW I spoke with CA dealership service rep that bought the car back and they said apart from recalls only customer complaint was freezing PCM which they believe was resolved but they didn't have parts for recalls so sold the car to be sold elsewhere.
Hoping for some input on how long it might take a local Porsche dealership to address the 2 front brake line and (probably the bigger issue!) 2 HV battery cell block (inspection, possible replacement) as well as 240v cable recalls.
As expected, the price of the car is substantially discounted...
Agreed, though 0-60 with launch control and Sport sound on the Taycan 4S was fun for me and occupants (just not nearly as quick as my old Tesla Model 3 AWD+ if I didn't get to engage launch control). I also couldn't stand the 2 speed transmission of my Taycan 4S which caused that awkward hiccup...
I agree mostly here, love the handling/feel (and electronic sports sound) of my Taycan 4S compared to Model 3 AWD+. I've had 20+ petrol cars but always got 5 speed or 6 speed manuals for any of my performance cars because I hate never met an automatic or dual clutch transmission I like. I...
Me 3 :). While I enjoy the Taycan 4S overall more than my Model 3 AWD+ (actually a Performance but sold as AWD in the Dec 2018 desperate Tesla push, later boosted with Ingenext 50hp+ dongle), that stupid transmission is a low point for me on the Taycan 4S (followed closely by really bad climate...
I've read, and the seat of my pants confirms by feel, that the Taycan 4S starts in 2nd gear unless you are in sport or sport + mode at which point it starts in 1st. When not in sport mode and I stomp on it, it hesitates like any auto, downshifts, then gives some good grunt but it is an awkward...
Sluggish in the sense I floor it and it doesn't immediately give me a strong push, but I have to wait for the dinosaur-paced transmission to shift before I get that... Did I say I've always hated automatic transmissions, as they almost never do exactly as I'd like? But this issue is largely...
I know it's not accurate (not was it in Tesla, Ford, or Chevy EVs I've owned) but it is the only predictor I have apart from battery % .
I'll try not to obsess, but it takes near zero software intelligence to identify only a fan is running and not drop the range estimate at all. I guess that...
