I think the issue with all non South East governments (EU, Germany, UK, etc.) is that too much complacency has set in.
A serious wake up call is needed; and unfortunately just the automotive industry slowly dying is not enough to provide that necessary jolt…
… but I remain hopeful and...
The EV battle has already been lost… not just by Porsche, but by almost every European manufacturer to the Chinese EV market.
And even those times when people derided Chinese cars is long gone as well.
Just see the Chinese release and update cycle. New models are coming out 3-5 times quicker...
And if you think the US is difficult; here is another fine example… from France.
A Porsche 911 Turbo S costs about €275,000 (Euros) from the manufacturer; but it costs an additional €80,000 (yes, Eighty Thousand Euros) just to tax/ register it on top of the manufacturer price… 🙈
Enjoy your...
On a lighter note.... drivers in the US (across the pond from EU/UK) should consider themselves lucky...
As a fine example, a Taycan will cost additional £440/ year, every year for the first 5 years as tax. This is in addition to the £333 per year for every 10,000 miles. Go figure !
Have a...
I think I might be having a similar issue… I do not have quantitative facts, but it appears that my car is now not charging as fast at HPC DC chargers since the last few charges; and the only variable seems to be that it had the update…
The fact that I have noticed this 1st time in my 3 years...
Well, I could have a better or different horse - but I wouldn't expect the horse to stop on its own if I didn't rein it in. If it was still a *horse* I would expect it to behave like a horse.
Not saying that development/ innovation shouldn't happen - but changing something for the salke of...
I won't argue further.... but I think that the margins are so minimal that even same brand tyres will have different wear after 5,000 miles and would be subject to the same issues you describe.
Even same brand tyres after some wear will behave with the different characteristics that you...
Thankfully, and vey glad that Porsche engineered it this way to coast like ICE cars.
Car shave always behaved like this for over 50 years - ain’t broke, don’t fix it !
Not really. What you are stating maybe technically accurate; but in the real world normal day to day driving, I doubt any driver would even notice this.
On normal UK roads, with its relatively (compared to state side) moderate summer temperature, do not foresee any issue.
As an example, look at...
This issue is not necessarily specific to the Taycan.
On many cars, tyres wear out at different rates and depend on driving style, general car dynamics, tyre types.
As an example, on my last 8 BMWs (a mix of RWD and AWD), the rears have always worn out a lot quicker than the fronts; and each...
Hi,
Any links or forum posts on this information?
I have had the tune on my 4S from very early on (likely one of the very first users in the UK) and would love to have this extender function rather than having to swap the ESG each time for a dealer visit.
In principle, I understand and that it...
The best part, Porsche do provide the front bumper grills for their 911 GT3 cars !
But not for any other model… so pebbles and road debris is only supposed to damage GT3 in Porsche’s view 🙄
@RED!
Thanks for the detailed write-up. I have a 2023 model and it has (most likely all the hardware to activate ALK, as it was available under FOD until last year), so I am going to give this a go in a couple of weeks (when I get some time).
1) Do you happen to have the list of all PR codes...
I have no special bias for or against China or US or any country for that matter…. but the above statement about US legality and the real world in the last few months 😳
I think a lot of the rest of the world (outside US) now iews and perceives “US legality/ checks & balances” in a very...
I think the European/ US world now really needs to wake up in terms of EVs.
For so long, almost everyone has lambasted China about fake, inferior, copied products and almost always discredited technological innovations (and a few of those assessments were probably deserved and likely true, but...
Yes, that is quite a normal requirement on all cars (regardless of manufacturer).
A car should ideally have the same 4 tyres all around, but definitely not have different tyres on the same axle...
The numbers 0, 1, 2 have no co-relation to tyre/rim sizes. The numbers signify revisions of the tyre compound.

Porsche uses a two‑letter system to show which Porsche model the tyre is designed for.
NF = Porsche Taycan
Other examples for context:
NA → 911
NB → 718 Boxster / Cayman
NC →...
