Should I buy an extended warranty at point of sale.

Safe-Guard excludes HV battery and some related components.

Should I buy an extended warranty at point of sale.

@tycanmt In general I agree with you, and I have never taken out any sort of aftermarket maintenance plan, or warranty, or insurance on any sort of product -- just car insurance, home insurance, and income-replacement insurance for the benefit of my survivors (i.e., so-called lift insurance)...

tire life, battery life, depreciation, and the small things

The former of the two is not a warranty. Can still make sense to buy one. (I did!) But … not a warranty.

    Bay Area Taycan Depreciation

I haven’t seen any free Taycans, even wrecks.

Should I buy an extended warranty at point of sale.

The Porsche-branded vehicle service plan that is purchased via a Porsche dealership yet actually not a Porsche extended warranty, or an extension of the actual Porsche warranty?

Should I buy an extended warranty at point of sale.

^ Whose plan? Is this really an extension of the original factory warranty? If so, that’s an impressive option.

Should I buy an extended warranty at point of sale.

For an extension of the factory warranty from Porsche, or an aftermarket vehicle service plan from SafeGuard?

    Bay Area Taycan Depreciation

I doubt the calculation is even taking into account actual sale values, both new and used -- in what publicly accessible database is that documented? The calculation is probably just synthesizing all the speculation already out there on the internet.

    Bay Area Taycan Depreciation

Do you mean that the resale value of a Taycan after 100k miles is zero?

Depends how you define both "ski" and "season" ... ... for lift-served skiing, Killington usually opens in late October, sometimes Sunday River also, but that's just WROD (White Ribbon of Death) until around Thanksgiving, when most major resorts open, albeit with limited terrain. Lots of...

Porsche Ordered to Buy Back Taycan That Charged at 9.6 kW, Not 11 kW

Nor have I ever come across a car that maxes out at that in the U.S. market. But here are various references to that, correct or otherwise: https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/ix3 "Peak Charge Rate, AC/DC: 15.4/400" https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2027-bmw-ix3-first-drive-review "With a...

Porsche Ordered to Buy Back Taycan That Charged at 9.6 kW, Not 11 kW

^ I had thought it was how the standard hardwired EVSE on 60a breaker is 11.6kW so increase that by a third for 80a breaker yields 15.4?

Mt Washington NH Wednesday afternoon. Still some great skiing then and also yesterday morning but about to become all disconnected. Which is typical for this time of year. Atypical is parking next to the thin patches seen here, leftovers from half of foot of new snow that fell the prior...

Porsche Ordered to Buy Back Taycan That Charged at 9.6 kW, Not 11 kW

Re confusion as to whether the Taycan was officially claimed to offer 11kW charging in the U.S., BMW appears to be adopting Porsche's approach with whether the iX3 can charge at 11kW or 15.4kW in the U.S. -- a friend has one of the very first U.S. allocations (patting myself on the back here for...

    Polestar 5

Yes, same as with the Polestar 4 (the more "coupe"-like version of the Polestar 3), which you can actually take for a test drive in the U.S. (if you live anywhere near a Polestar dealer).

    Maextro S800

This car seems to be absurdly over-the-top in many (many) aspects, but as a kind of demonstration model of sorts, it's a scary illustration of what the Chinese automotive industry can already achieve: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maextro_S800...

    Polestar 5

After many years of eager anticipation -- or is that frustrating delay? -- the Polestar 5, a potential Taycan competitor, has finally been fully revealed, with the reviews released on Monday this week. Here are the major U.S. text sources...

May 2026 Trip, Massachusetts to Minnesota Roundtrip (3100 miles)

Turns out that I had far better options in southern NH than either of the EA stations there ... I noticed today in the i4 forum a reference to charging at a MB station in MA. I checked the MB website and ... wow, so many of these already in MA! Then I noticed one in southern NH -- how did I...

May 2026 Trip, Massachusetts to Minnesota Roundtrip (3100 miles)

It was punishment for Dieselgate. The consent decree required VW to spend money on public charging infrastructure. No performance metrics.

May 2026 Trip, Massachusetts to Minnesota Roundtrip (3100 miles)

That's exactly what I thought at first. Then Ionna and MB opened stations in northern New England. So definitely not a regional issue. And the one full-strength EA I charged at is in northern NY, but under the thumb of the apparently watchful NY govt.
