As an FYI, the brakes on my Taycan are outstanding and there is no way for me to discern when the regenerative braking stops and the friction brakes kick in. I've now got nearly 26,000 miles on the odometer and there has never been a single thing I've noticed regarding the brakes that would be...
I’m with gnop1950 regarding the software. I have no software complaints since the Taycan software does everything I think it needs to do. I appreciate the iPhone app which lets me
Check the SOC and estimated remaining range and which lets me remotely turn on the air conditioning when I am out...
It’s stories like this that make me say I will only take my ICE Cayenne on a long road trip. There is way too much downside risk in driving a Taycan and playing Russian Roulette every time you need to recharge.
If renting a Model 3 from Hertz, what level of charge do they typically give you are the start of the rental? And does Hertz require that you return the vehicle with a higher state of charge than at the start of the rental?
Hello White.
Yes, I will most likely fly. When I've taken my Cayenne on a long road trip I try to keep the cruise control speed set at 88mph (yes, I'm a big fan of the Back To The Future movies). The last road trip I took was to Vail Colorado a trip of 720 miles. Including my stops for fuel...
I’m not the kind of person who would attempt to drive nearly 1,000 miles in a single day so my trip from Scottsdale to Boulder, CO would involve an overnight stop. So day 1 would be about 8 hours of driving in my ICE SUV. With "only" 5 1/2 hours of driving left on day 2, I'd likely arrive...
Thank you WasserGKuehit for your well articulated 3 reasons why. Responding to them out of order:
#2. You are correct that my Taycan would be EVEN MORE comfortable on a long road trip than my quite comfortable Cayenne. The seat in your Macan is virtually identical to the seat in my Cayenne...
As an owner of an amazing 2020 Taycan Turbo and a 2012 Cayenne S (ICE) SUV, I have a completely different point of view.
If you attach any value (monetary or experiential) to your time, why in the world would you take an EV (Model Y or Taycan) on such a long trip when you could take that trip...
Thanks for sharing your visualization of your efficiency data! I don’t have the skill to plot mine but I’m sure the pattern of my 2020 Turbo is very similar. During this very hot month of July, my morning estimated range has been between 238 and 244 miles on an 80% overnight charge. That...
My 2020 Taycan Turbo handles the hot Arizona (Scottsdale and Phoenix) summers very well. It’s the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven in the summer heat - - the pano roof glass doesn’t let much heat in and the AC system can cool the cabin to whatever temperature I want (typically I keep it at...
Hello from the USA and the Great State of Arizona!
I own a 2020 Taycan Turbo with 20” Aero Wheels and the big battery. Less than 15% of my miles are on highways. My efficiency during the warmer months averages about 3.4 miles per kWh. It drops to around 3.1 during the cool months.
I charge...
I own a 2020 Taycan Turbo and it’s pretty much 98% of the performance of the Turbo S. I like mine due to the 20” wheels because they provide a smoother and quieter ride than do the 21” wheels of the Turbo S.
I think a used 2020 Turbo would be a very good sweet spot for you to take advantage of.
This is awesome news! I just activated it on my iPhone and I’m excited to have Apple’s familiar and trusted UI for my Trip Charging Planing integrated into the turn by turn navigation guidance which I use regularly
I drive a 2022 Turbo in relatively warm Arizona USA. I charge to only 80%. During the summer months my estimated range is between 235 and 240 miles at 80% SOC. During the cooler winter months my estimated range is between 218 and 224 miles. I don’t drive on the highways more than 20% of my...
I’ve owned 5 ICE Mercedes including an S-Class. My Taycan Turbo is my second Porsche.
I agree that the Mercs are boring. Once you go Porsche you’ll never go back to anything else - - especially if the Porsche is a Taycan.
havjng owned both I can objectively say you should get the Taycan...
Congratulations on pulling the trigger and getting that 4S! IMHO the Sports Chrono and Adaptive Cruise Control are “Must Have” options along with the Big Battery. Well done sir!
