Hi guys - Are there any 150kW chargers in the UK that are 800V? (I know Telsa 150s are 400v) - if so, which service offers these? I am asking for a Merc owner, whose car is 800V only (no 400V option) and has no 250+kW chargers closeby - cheers

I am not that knowledgeable around electricity, but I believe that the real question is how many amps a charger can support. The matter is mainly relevant for 400volt cars - some 150kw chargers for example may only be able to provide 200amps, which would make a 400volt car charge at less than 150kw in reality (maybe 80kwh?). It shouldn't be relevant for 800volt cars, as they can take the maximum kw from that charger with less amps, because they support 800 volts. Therefore, for a 800v car, the only real matter is the charger's kw rating and not if it supports 800v or 400v.

Thanks Mr T - but the car's safeguards simply won't allow a handshake with any 400V charger - it's 800V only.

Unlike the Taycan J1.1, which has 50kW 400V standard capability or optional 150kW 400V capability. This Merc is Purely 800V. Mercedes have now brought out an £850 factory fit option in the configurator to allow the car to accept 400V - but this particular car does not have that.... cheers
