Way over priced. 6months ago I bought a 2024 RWD with almost the same options, MSRP was 120k. It had 6k miles at the time. paid 75k out the door with additional 5year and 100k mile warranty.

It would be nice to charge at Tesla station for sure. But I heard not all Tesla station can be used? I have to do more research

I need to do some research. I mainly travel from Seattle to Vancouver for longest road trip. I have a Tesla. So I am more familiar with the Tesla station. But I heard not all Tesla station can be used for non Tesla cars. But if Electify America is faster, I will go there.

today the local dealership told me that the car with 3000 miles on it has battery health of 93%. I am a little nervous because of its low mileage. I saw people have 20K miles with 93% battery health. This one seems to be issue.
From my understanding, battery health decrease in the first few thousand miles then remain stable for a long time. So I wouldn't worry too much.

I would offer less. When I was looking, there was a 2023 CPO taycan with similar spec with 18k miles. The dealer wanted 62k+Tax. Even had rear wheel steering which is super rare in a base Taycan.

got it, i will offer lower.

the other RWD that i was looking at had battery replaced, 2022, 24K miles ( technically 20 miles after the new battery), $114K original price, asking for $64K+ $1500 shipping...i do feel this is more realistic asking price than my local dealer of $72K asking.

that sounds more reasonable. I would also check carmax. Their prices are usually really good. And their extended warranty is cheaper than Porsche, and is through Fidelity, which is top rated.

For reference:

2022 taycan with 8k miles for 61K. Currently for sale on Carmax.

One of the best. I had one for a Cayenne Turbo. They paid well over 10k in repair with no question asked. All handled through the dealership. I didn't have to do anything, the service advisor contacted them and got approval without any issues.

I spent the last month shopping around for a used Taycan before buying one yesterday. What I learned-

CPO adds about $4-6k to the price for the extra 2 years of warranty. Seems like a lot when the expensive stuff (powertrain) is still covered, but it’s peace of mind.

Buying from a Porsche dealer adds another $4-6k to the price. Better deals can be found elsewhere.

Looking at the prices the OP is considering I feel even better about my purchase. 2024 Taycan 4S. $140k+ MSRP (wheels, tech, premium, bigger battery etc) and paid $76,500.

Maybe they’re just cheaper on the east coast, but for low mileage 2022 rwd, I expect them to be more like this one for $50k- https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inven...2974&zip=34209#listing=412495431/NONE/DEFAULT

My question, all of 2022 4 year warranty will expired by now or soon.. so extended is a must..

Powertrain (the battery and motors etc) is good for 8 yrs total.

But if worried about everything else, it may be cheaper to buy a 23 or 24 that still has warranty vs the CPO 22.

Everything I know about extended warranties is that they’re HUGE profit centers for every car manufacturer. So it’s pretty easy to argue that you pretty much should never buy one (mathematically).

You are right for most car, but this is a porsche and expecially a taycan.. wouldn't that equation changes? M

Nope.
It just means they charge you more for the warranty. The profit margin is still there and still significant.

In fact the formula being an electric car is even worse for us because all the expensive stuff is covered under the powertrain warranty. And the high voltage battery in particular is extremely expensive compared to most gas engines. It’s super rare your entire engine would be replaced under warranty in a gas car but battery replacements are more common.

And again, you don’t need an extended warranty for battery coverage.

It’s ok to buy an extended warranty. Just know that the extra “peace of mind” isn’t a financial decision but an emotional one. And that’s ok if it is.

Is this really a emotional decision since component like heater easily and repeatly breaks down and that can cost 5k? How many people who own a taycan didnt have any problems and once u pass the 4 years..if the car need a recall again, would they fix it without warranty?

Recalls are always covered, even out of warranty.

It’s an emotional purchase because the math is really bad on extended warranties. According to studies, most (55%) never have a single claim on the extended warranty. And even those that do, most of the claims are less than the cost of the warranty.

They price the warranty based on the risk and cost of repairs and constantly raise it if the risk/cost goes up.

Only in an extremely rare situation would a warranty company get the math completely wrong and you get a super cheap warranty with a car that has frequent high repair costs.

And our “expensive stuff” is covered for 8 years.
