Porsche’s WSQ7 campaign documents that nonstandard current peaks from some public DC chargers can trigger protective action by the Taycan’s high-voltage voltage converter. The published campaign describes a permanent loss of DC fast-charging capability on certain model-year 2025 vehicles. I experienced a similar but different event in my 2026 Taycan. A charging disturbance occurred when the driver of an old Chevrolet Volt using the adjacent FPL branded EVSE unplugged her vehicle while it was apparently still charging (I didn't think that was possible but I actually saw it.) My Taycan was moments from having the desired level of charge and being disconnected when as the Chevy was disconnected there was a loud "thump" and my Taycan which was charging in the next bay then became inoperative and displayed a yellow “Electrical system error: Service required” warning. It was eventually recovered after I locked the vehicle and left it undisturbed long enough to complete a full control-system shutdown, commonly called the “lock and leave” maneuver. (The several hours it took to learn that this was a possible fix is another story.) It is not presently clear whether the two events share the same technical cause, and Porsche has not published an equivalent campaign for model-year 2026 vehicles. This has not happened since, it was a one time occurrence. Does anyone have any insights?
