4S CT ownership didn't get off to a good start

The Taycan was a unique proposition, We didn't need them as such but the tax situation for Ltd companies made it a no brainer to buy them. It didn't work out for either of the cars, but we got out very lightly indeed so it didn't turn into a disaster. If there had been anything approaching a normal depreciation curve for these cars plus finance exit fees we likely have simply kept them. We're very glad we decided not to lease.

I have two other cars, one electric runaround daily and an SL.

The Taycan replaced an Audi S6 Avant I'd had since new. So a largish estate 4 seater would be nice to have. The only thing that appeals to me in any way shape or form is a Ferrari FF. Obviously I'm not buying that through the business and there currently aren't any for sale that appeal to me. I don't like 4x4's I prefer estate cars.

I have the luxury of simply waiting for the right car to come along.

The FF is an amazing car, the 6.3 engine is a legend and it is not as impractical as it might look. Before the used car market went mad in the last couple of years, a nicely spec’d sub 30k miles example would be sub £100k. The Lusso hasn’t come down much yet… still well into 160s.

After an S6 you could always look at the RS6/E63 which offer such a compelling package. Or a CLS63 Shooting brake. Or if you like lower profile fast Germans with nice details and very rare, Alpinas are really cool and more elegant, and are available as estates.

I chose a Granturismo as it’s pretty much on its own if you want 4 adult seats, an amazing soundtrack, decent boot space and (subjective I know) something that looks rather special. They’re also pretty cheap (to buy… I’m becoming best pal with my service agent at DL Ferrari in Swindon…).

Or just daily the SL ?

I bought the S6 because I'm not a fan of the RS6. I'm not overly keen on any of the AMG products either, they are too compromised with hard rides and restrictive on how I could spec them new. Try ordering a £100K AMG without privacy glass, in the UK you can't (unless you're Chris Harris it seems).

I really don't "need" a third car as I work from home and have done for 12 years, but if I am going to buy one it needs to be something special. I've been looking at FF's on and off since 2017 and it's really the only car I want. I'm not even really keen on the GTC4 Lusso that followed it, I prefer the design of the FF.

The only other car that interests me is an F12, but it's a two seater, which I already have in the SL, and where would I put my dog? (He's a big lad). So an FF gives me 80% of the F12 experience with four seats and a commodius boot. So I'll hang on until a post 2015 FF appears in the right colour.

My SL is currenty the daily, with the mazda being the dog/grocery car. The only issue I currently have is If I want to do a long trip with the dog, the range of the mazda is too restrictive, it's a city EV.

I've had a couple of owners state similar stories. The work to my car is absurd and I've lodged a formal complaint with the insurers and with Porsche, neither of which will likely go anywhere. Its the principal though.

It is what it is now for both our cars. (Both are currently off the road). So they'll both be sold on once repaired.

It is worth noting, the supplying dealer also thinks this is absurd. Dealers are not Approved Repairers. They are all third party outsourced accident repair centres.

The only car I'm interested in replacing this with is a Ferrari FF, that will have to be outside the business. I expect that to be a delicate moneypit though. I wasn't expecting a new Porsche to be.

This was the first Porsche I was genuinely interested in, they sell nothing else I'd buy, so it's likely to be my first and last.

We also never managed to own them long enough to actually claim the tax offset to start with. As we're being currently offered over list it's not proving to be an issue of cost.

Ferrari FF... haha i saw one just two days ago. I just ordered the CT4S last week. and i was thinking if i will love the CT the way i love the FF. anyway, the sales briefly mentioned the Tire Rim Insurance. After this story, i think that i will have to get it? I had a s2000 before and not all rim damage can be repaired. But yeah, i always imagine the Taycan is like an expensive bike that you ride it but don't park it. Makes me wonder if i should even drive it on the rough road around Toronto. mmm... When i take delivery, the trip home would be super scary.

They paid £117,500 which was 7.5K over list. So their margin is circa £10k +vat which isn't unreasonable all things considered.

The reality was we got £222,500 for both cars it was only when the settlement payments were made did we get the breakdown per vehicle. (the other was a 6 month old 4s saloon with 2600 miles which we sold at -£5k which was pretty reasonable).

Shame you didn't contact me as I thought we'd arranged as I'd have given you more than the dealer did!

I've now purchased one but I love the colour of your old one.

No that's fair enough, it's a lovely specified car I'd have liked to have owned.

Yeah we were getting lowballed on the saloon at low £90k's, they all wanted the CT.

The irony is the saloon sold the day it was advertised at £115K and the CT is still for sale.
