- 2023 Taycan GTS ST, 2022 BMW IX,
I have heard that most dealers don’t want to perform warranty service if they can get paid for it by the customer. My understanding is that they get paid at a steep discount for warranty service labor and make minimal profit on the parts from Porsche. If the customer pays they make a huge profit on both labor and parts. Many dealers are now charging significantly more for parts from the service department then the Porsche MSRP on the same parts. This is happening at other brands also. I got a quote from my BMW dealer to replace a mirror housing that was $860 in parts. I went to my trusted auto body shop and his quote for parts was $432. When I asked him where he was getting the parts from he told me the BMW dealer he was getting them from. I called their parts department and confirmed the costs. My dealers service department was almost doubling the cost of the parts used in their service.
