Sometime in October 2023, I got my first electrical system error (red circle of death). I stopped the car, turned it off, and then on again. The error was gone so I continued to drive (carefully at first). Then it happened again after two weeks or so. I called the Porsche Center and got an appointment for a check and an update (that was due anyway). They couldn't find any errors when checking. I drove it for another couple of weeks but the error kept reappering. They got the car back for another check, but they still couldn't find anything. They told me to take a photo of the dashboard every time it happened so they would have the exact time and mileage of the event when they checked the log. In that instance, the errors stopped! (Murphy's law in action).
I drove the whole spring and summer without any problems until it started happening again last fall. I have recently been in for the battery recall campaign where they did another battery check without finding anything. I haven't had any warnings since, but it has only been two weeks so I am not holding my breath.
I have had the error maybe 30 times over the last 15 months and there are a few observations:
- The car has been running as expected all the time, with no problem with driving, charging, or range.
- The problem is gone after restarting the car, then it takes anything from 1 hour to 6 months before it reappears.
- It only happens in cold weather, but with no straight correlation to temperature.
So obviously this warning could mean anything from a serious problem to a minor anomaly.
