I had been waiting for the 70 mph range tests for the Lucid Air and Mercedes EQS before publishing an updated comparison plot and table.

I have my feelings on the subject and you will have yours as everyone has different preferences.

I am using the test results from Inside EVs, Out of Spec and Tom Moloughney as I tested my car under similar conditions.

You will need to refer to the table below the plot to identify which car is being tested. The table is sorted by efficiency.

All the Porsche tests are in black. The straight line is my MY2020 tested over a range of temperatures.

The Red labels are everyone else.

There is also a metric version of the table.

Comments
  • Range comparisons need to be temperature adjusted but none of the testing guys have run the same car over a large temperature range
    • To adjust for temperature just read up or down to see how the Taycan compares
    • All of the temperatures should be considered somewhat fuzzy
  • The Taycan performed extremely well on its Range tests when first introduced
  • The newer models, 2021 Tesla Model 3, Mercedes EQS 450+ and Lucid Air have higher ranges showing the results of improved technology
    • In particular the Lucid Air blew up the range comparisons. The efficiency is just outstanding
    • The EQS got its range from a really big battery
    • Tesla has a very efficient battery but it is using relatively small batteries in its cars
