I’m picking up a new to me ‘23 CT 4S on Feb 8 (great timing huh). Fully loaded…even the VLC roof…and CPO warranty until end of ‘29. It’s working out significantly cheaper than a new CT 4S. I keep it…..right? Either it’s that, or a base base base CT refresh. I knew I’d be facing this going in, but now that the time has come, ugh
The way things are with used car values (not just EVs) at the moment, I think the only people who are going to have an "easy" choice are those currently on a lease and lucky enough to have the stars align with a facelift Taycan delivery date around the time their lease is up (or those like myself who are too emotionally and/or financially invested in a current Taycan). I'm sure that the facelift will be better, but not so sure the cost-to-change will be acceptable, especially if a (relative) bargain used current example is an option.

But the Taycan is capable of even more than that; Porsche now says it’s rated at up to 320 kW for charging. That makes it among the fastest-charging EVs available on the market right now, up there with the Lucid Air and Hyundai and Kia’s electric cars. That, of course, is provided you can find a fast-charging station capable of delivering such power; also, other Porsches blocked stalls at the EA station so the entire electricity load could go to one car at a time. (This did not make us popular with the other EV drivers there, but c’est la cars, I guess.)

This article references a handy table of ranges for different models of the refreshed Taycan (values provided by Porsche).

The 4CT seems to have a best range of 318mi; any similar test i can find for the .1 version is 251, so the refresh brings a useful ~70mi additional range. If this is from a larger battery with more used/effective capacity, it sounds like there were not many improvements in the efficiency of the car itself. (Rough calculation seems to be 3.3mi/kWh for Taycan.2 vs 2.98 for .1.) That is, there is not much hope for an OTA trickle-down improvement for .1 cars.

Admittedly, the wagon is/will be the worst performer in the lineup, and presumably where gains are minimal.

Looking forward to some real world tests.

We have another video from Kyle on the facelift charging curve - it's very impressive. And by the way he is talking we'll know all the details in just a few hours (he said he has a full video ready on the facelift which is waiting for the embargo to lift). Sounds likes significant improvements are incoming.

It is interesting that there is no battery preservation charge mode in the facelift.

Anyone know the exact time of its presentation? Doing back of napkin timing based on Kyle’s video (thanks JonoNZ), it should be around 5:00 am EST, Wednesday (US time) tomorrow . I am just enough of a crazy gearhead I would get up literally at any hour of the day or night to watch it.

Hopefully someone here will be soon able to post not just the exact time but a link as to where/how we can watch it live.

impressive charging curve, video shows 108kWh delivered* when charging from 0-100% so a very decent increase in useable battery size (c. 30%?), explains the extra range!

*edit, this will include running all the cooling etc so not all going into battery :(

Yea, he says that porsche told him that they found it to be useless, since degradation is much smaller than anticipated - based on existing taycans.

So I assume it's safe to just leave it at 270kw; unless they are ofcourse full of shit.
Haven't really seen anything suggesting 270kw degrades battery faster than the 200kw mode.

is longer range mainly due to bigger battery? Issue there is longer charge times. Like battery same, but lower weight = longer range
Yes - 95% of a 100kWh battery is better than current 90% of 93kWh battery (PB+) - afforda more range before fiddling around with wheel options and more efficient motors.

I got better on my old 4S 3.1 miles / kWh over 20,000 miles which equates to 259 miles. Others got more - Florida, SOCAL, etc.

Again these reports come with a degree of reader beware.

Cross/Sport Turismo?

For clarity, I was referring strictly to the CT, which seems to have the worst efficiency even in the new lineup.
