You.. were jealous of a Macan? I owned a Macan for years, that's a strange one to me.

Every time you punch it with that EV power, nah, no boredom. I use the torque way more than I got to enjoy the sound.

Ok I feel like everyone missed the point... I am not jealous of a Macan, it was one of the only engine car I drove in years and it reminded me of ICE cars. Idk if that clears it up.

I totally get you. I drove a model S for a few years, craved ICE, got an M5, swapped it out for a G63 and now I’m getting a Taycan. Every once in a while you want to hear a V8 and feel it rumble while driving a well engineered ICE car. Then you daily an electric for a few days and appreciate it for its smoothness and power. Then the cycle repeats and I get into my G wagon and…

Love the Ducati. Too bad bikes are just a little too risky for my liking.

I agree on both counts.
It is really hard not to get carried away with the speed on a bike.

However, any appreciation stopped for me about 20 years ago.......
Had a biker crash into our car in the middle of the day at over 100 mph. The guy he was 'racing' with (public road) came off too.
Bike hit a stone wall and disintegrated into tiny bits.

There is not a lot left of a bike after an incident like that. Couldn't go near one now.

I know its a personal thing, but it's hard to unsee what you see.

Yup, can attest. I'm restoring a 944 turbo, which is full of quirks and character. (Just to set nomenclature, "quirk" == "critical fitting with zero access, rated most annoying", and "character" == "stubborn jackass with horse power".)

Last year I went to the Porsche Experience Center and drove a 911 Turbo S and a Taycan Turbo S back to back. The 911 Turbo S was very fun, but at low speeds it was laggy compared to the Taycan. It would be hard for me to go back to an ICE car.

I compared the 911 and 911 turbo back in the '90s (993)
I found the standard car a bit slow, it was about 300kg heavier and a bit less powerful than the TVR Griffith it was intended to replace as my daily. The turbo was fantastic when driven hard on empty roads but on my typical daily drive the lag compared to a NA engine meant it was real-world slower than the TVR.
It would have been a good investment though, 993 turbos fetch silly money here in the UK for some weird reason.

My longer term plan is to get something like a Caterham or Westfield, or perhaps if I am a bit older a Cayman for the weekends.

Lovely ducati, i had a 1199s few years ago and loved it.

Right now i've a Multistrada V4s but to be honest the most fun i've on a bike at eh moment is with this one.

And it's an EV

It's just stuipidly quick, a lot more violent than the 1199s and the sound is really strange but nice (same tech as Formula E so it makes a whine like a GTS on steroid)

Haha, sorry, it's just the Macan has an audi engine in it that's less than spectacular.

I also don't think the 992s sound particularly good, although better than a Macan. Plus good luck spending more than a couple of seconds above 5k RPMs in one of those, you'll be going 100mph by the time you're enjoying the sound.

As others have mentioned, if it's noise I'm after give me an older NA car to wring out on the track. These modern ICEs don't sound amazing and are too fast, you don't actually get to wring out the engine and even with modern turbos they aren't as torquey as an EV.

Shout out to the LC500. It doesn't drive super well and it isn't fast but talk about a modern car with an excellent sound.

?? brilliant. My 911 is a vampire! The bastard has taken at least a pint of my blood so far! Who the hell designed torqued nuts that have been tightened by the Hulk! I have no skin on knuckles ??

For me, I get bored with all my vehicles eventually. That being said, I traded my 20 TTS on a 23 CT and am surprised how much I miss the Taycan while waiting for the new one (sitting in port). I firmly believe there is no better daily driver.

I 100% agree with the sentiment that there is something special to driving certain ICE cars. It's very hard to put a finger on what exactly that is besides a "feeling" that works for me. People ask what's different about driving different cars - they all have their pros and cons.

As an enthusiast, nothing compares to the launch of an EV and the quiet comfort that can leave you refreshed after even a lousy commute. Rotating through and driving either of these ICE cars is also a different, but highly rewarding experience. What's great is that we can all enjoy our modes of transportation in our own way and are very lucky to do so.

After 4 years of driving Teslas, I ended up adding a McLaren 600LT for the occasional drives. From silent to all the cracks and pops you get. It worked well. I sold it earlier this year and am waiting for the 720S spider delivery hopefully by end of year. I really miss the noise.
