Back glass crack

Hello everyone,

Today, I had my 2026 Taycan 4 tinted at one of the best shops in my area. Unfortunately, while they were installing the back tint, the glass cracked, and it’s devastating to see. They assured me they would replace it and have already ordered a new piece. Before placing the order, I informed them that my car is equipped with noise-canceling glass, and they assured me they ordered the correct type.

How can I ensure that the replacement glass is the right one when I go for the installation?

Before they install it you look at the edge and you will clearly see three layers if it is noise cancelling glass.

You can see the dual pane in the glass edge. I went through this last month, only that I had Porsche do the work. The glass edge where it goes into the trunk has the visible dual layer, that’s your cue.

By the way seeing this makes me uneasy. My car is tinted, except the rear glass since I had it replaced last month. Haven’t had time to tint it yet, but honestly the look doesn’t bother me much. One positive I’ve noticed is that at night the auto dimming mirror function seems to work better than before when it was tinted.

How can it crack whilst installing a foil?
No strong mechanical force needed for the job.

When I had the back window tinted the shop told me the Taycan ones are the hardest he’s ever had to tint because of how difficult it is to get to the corners.
