All,

I currently have a GTS on order, and while I currently have a 996 C4S as my weekender, I'm wondering how the GTS will hold up for some backroad blasts given the relatively slim range when you're giving it the beans combined with the lack of EA chargers located off the beaten path. Does anyone have any extensive experience with Taycan and B-roads? I'm in the VA area for reference so I'm perpetually shaking my fist at those in CA with chargers all over the place.

Hi! I’ve been driving my Cross Turismo through the mountains of Colorado for the last 6 months - no issues! I did experience some performance degradation from the harsh winter weather, but no issues with charging!

That's fair. How far out would say you can typically venture out before range anxiety creeps in?

Clark, you should always have a charging location in mind if you take your Taycan for an extended drive. The Plugshare app will show you charging locations, so plan your drive around where you can charge.

Rule #1 for owning an EV - have a plan and know where you are going to charge. Other than that, go enjoy the car!

On PlugShare, a Taycan is looking for a “css” charger. Hopefully of 150kw or bigger. That will get you a half hour “fill up”. J1772 is the ac charging port on a Taycan. That is the 5 to 8 hour fill up plug. They also call them “destination chargers” at hotels.

I have yet to delve into the wonders of the Plugshare app, so I'll have to download that and see what's up with it. I have 0 experience with an EV but I'm excited at the prospect of navigating through the differences of ownership compared to an ICE car.

You want to find a DC 150kw or faster charger. Then you’ll fill up to 85% in about 30 minutes. I get about 230mi to a charge, and going really hard burns that about 20% faster.

There are ElectrifyAmerica stations in VA, and probably other DC charging options.
